Division Manager - Golf Course

WHO WE ARE: The Elmhurst Park District, established in 1920 and located 16 miles west of Chicago, provides parks, recreation facilities and programs to meet our mission of enriching lives while having fun! We serve residents of the Elmhurst community as well as residents of neighboring towns! With a population of 45,556, the Park District manages 462 acres of parkland within 28 parks ranging in size from small neighborhood parks to large community parks. Facilities vary from formal gardens to playgrounds. Due to an upcoming retirement, we have an exciting full-time job opportunity as DIVISION MANAGER - GOLF COURSE at Sugar Creek Golf Course! Sugar Creek Golf Course is looking for a highly motivated golf manager who strives to lead a Golf Course operation known for being one of the best courses in the area, with outstanding instructional programs and a popular special event rental space. Sugar Creek Golf Course is a 9-hole, par 32 course, owned and operated by the Elmhurst Park District and Village of Villa Park since 1975.
WHAT YOU'LL DO: The Division Manager of the Golf Course will be responsible for planning, developing, managing, and maintaining Golf Course, driving range, and banquet operations.

• Recruit, hire, train and evaluate staff, and provide ongoing leadership, foresight and motivation to staff
• Prepare and monitor budget, and manage it within guidelines including accurate preparation and completion of financial paperwork
• Monitor financial comparison reports, report deviations and make necessary adjustments.
• Develop pricing and fee structures for Golf Course, grill, bar, banquets, driving range and instruction programming, to maximize profit.
• Assist with short and long rage capital planning.
• Conduct inspections of operations to ensure effective planning an dmaximum efficiency.
• Attend Sugar Creek Golf Course committee meetings and prepare/present summaries.
• Oversee and act as banquet/rental coordinator.
• Oversee and execute post-event banquet clean-up.
• Ensure all bar and concession inventory levels are maintained and make purchases when necessary.
• Create, oversee, implement, and teach when necessary instruction programs through various programs likes classes, clinics, and camps.
• Develop new areas for revenue growth in driving range through instruction, programming, junior leagues, adult leagues, camps, clinics, and private lessons.
• Develop new areas for revenue growth in bar business.
• Promote business by utilizing creative, cost effective marketing concepts while remaining competitive within the industry.
• Promote and maintain facility image by researching and implementing current state of the art industry standards.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

• Bachelor's degree in Golf Course Management with 6 years of progressively responsible experience and 3 years of management experience.
• PGA Member preferred.
• Knowledge of golf industry, retail business procedures and revenue facility management
• Sound background in financial management and budgetary techniques as well as knowledge of management principles and practices
• Proficiency in computer word-processing and spreadsheet applications
• Proven problem-solving, communication, organizational, customer service and management skills
• Excellent analytical, project management and presentation skills
