Certification by Athletic Equipment Manager Associate, or ability to be certified in one year. Experience with CoachComm systems including X-System, Tempo and Coach to Player.

• Preferred: Two years of athletic supervision and management preferred

This is a 100% full-time Academic Professional position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 2/16/2024. Target salary for this position is $40,000. Salary iscompetitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while alsoconsidering internal equity.

Job Summary

- Strategic Leadership
• Supervise 15 - 20 student managers.
• Be available for all recruiting activities, associated with equipment and apparel, for official and unofficial campus visits by prospective student athletes.
• Coordinate development of the computerized inventory management system.
• Ensure effective management of receiving and inventory reporting of all football equipment/apparel.
• Oversee the set-up and equipment operations for all Football practices and home/away contests including postseason competition.
• Educate and train staff and football student managers in proper laundry techniques to prevent damage to apparel, uniforms, and laundry equipment.
• Assist with distributions of equipment to student-athletes, staff, and others. Supervise laundry operations for Football. - Conducting Health and Safety checks of equipment
• Responsible for the quality control evaluation of all football equipment/apparel received.
• Conduct annual physical inventory counts on all football equipment/apparel to ensure all equipment meets safety regulations.
• Ensure proper fitting of football equipment (e.g., helmets, shoulder pads, etc.): Ensure staff is trained and taught proper fitting techniques.
• Oversee helmets that do not meet standards for concussion protocol.
o Ensuring those helmets are discarded
• Fitting each student athlete with the helmet that fits their specific health needs
• Stay up to date with information on updated helmets to help prevent - Equipment Services to football program
• Oversee the acquisition of all football equipment/apparel. Maintain football equipment program in accordance with NCAA and conference specifications and regulations.
• Responsible for the security and storage of all football equipment/apparel.
• Foster and develop relationships with suppliers that will mutually benefit the University's athletic department.
• Act as a liaison between football program and current/potential athletic suppliers/vendors, while, ensuring football program abides by responsibilities and processes as outlined in contracts with vendors/suppliers.

- Requires extensive evening and weekend work• Independent decision-making in many areas including purchase of sports equipment safety features• Acceptance of responsibility for day-to-day problem solving• Management ability to maintain good rapport with sport department heads• Mastery of Nike's "Gameday" online order system• Ongoing knowledge with Big Ten and NCAA rules regarding a student-athlete's eligibility.• Maintain knowledge of NCAA, Big Ten Conference and University rules and regulations. Ability to work multiple personnel on multiple projects effectively and efficiently.
