This opportunity is to dispatch, monitor and manually build routes and using the phone to dispatch drivers who are transporting people to and from appointments. Do you know Metro Detroit? Will you be able to demonstrate your knowledge of Metro Detroit communities, freeways and main roads as well as logistical proximity of one to another? Imagine you have 300 trips on a given day. It's like solving a puzzle...You will have to manually build routes for drivers. These routes must consider the time and the distance between two locations and the time that will take to get to the subsequent pickup location. All routes must make business sense.

Please note - This is not a call center experience type of a job. This is not an ambulance, fire or a police type dispatch. This is manual routing of transportation requests and manual dispatching utilizing a limited pool of drivers that are most likely already in route with people on board to somewhere else. You will need to know where your drivers are at all times and which driver will be able to respond to a new transportation request and without impacting an already pre-set routes.
Dispatcher/Router/Scheduler will manually build the next day routes and will also dispatch drivers over the phone.
Open position is at our Farmington Hills, Michigan dispatch office. The ideal match is having at least 3 to 5 years experience of manually putting routes together coupled with a dispatching experience. This ideal candidate will successfully perform this job's requirements when his/hers knowledge and experience of dispatching and routing are complemented with being responsible and punctual, having positive attitude and embracing team work in a very dynamic environment.

- Must be punctual
- Must know Metro Detroit area extremely well
- Must know how to manually route trips and understand logistics and locations relevant to each other
- Must understand how far apart locations are in terms of travel time
- Initial planned routes change throughout the day – must be able to make quick and logistically optimal decisions without using software
- Must be able to build routes logistically to minimize travel time and the distance between stops.
- Answer phones to take requests
- Must be able to use computer/software for data entry
- Background check will be required
- Microsoft Excel - basic knowledge required
- Must have own reliable transportation.
Please note - This is not a call center experience type of a job.
Must be a part of a holiday schedule rotation including Christmas time if necessary.
