Job Description
- Answer/compose emails to a customer base regarding cargo and shipments
- Check daily steamship lines for return locations
- Check ETAs on the drivers for dispatched loads and provide drivers with updates/load information
- Check the LYNX system for the release of container orders and scheduled delivery with customers via email
- Review container numbers, confirm ready vessel, cargo deadline dates, or pick up Cargo
- Complete the Driver Dispatch Form on each container
- Dispatch drivers via text thread throughout the day and for the following day
- Communicating with drivers throughout the day via phone or dispatch thread
- Be proactive and always know ETA of cargo, and inform truck issues or accidents
- Communicate any cargo change and ETA with the customer, and the shipping department
- High School or equivalent
- Must have trucking dispatching experience (preferred 3+ years)
- Be customer service always focused
- Must understand the concept of pre-dispatching and dispatching
- Must have drayage experience and port knowledge
- Knowledge of the ports is a plus
- Possess a "can do and will do" attitude
- Must have excellent work tenure and must be punctual
- Basic MS Office and texting skills as well as a typing speed of >35 wpm
- Must be able to text driver status or ETA
- Must be able to multitask and communicate ETA order change will clients and departments
- Critical thinking, logical reasoning, innovation, and ability to pay strong attention to details
- Exceptional customer service is non-negotiable
- Excellent telephone and email etiquette
- Must be able to pass criminal background (no theft or embezzlement)
- Strong knowledge of truck chassis sizes and axile size (40ft, 20ft, 20ft triaxle)
