Dispatcher

JOB SUMMARY: Planning & execution of all dispatch supply chain functions in the most efficient & cost effective manner that results in exceptional service to members and customers

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

· Must have high school diploma or general education (GED)

· General knowledge of trucking industry with six months or more of related experience is preferred

· Must successfully complete pre-employment drug test and background check

· Must have proof of legal authorization to work in USA.

· Must be available to work multiple shifts and extended hours to include weekends and holidays.

· Must be able to work in a diverse and fast-paced atmosphere both independently and as a team.

· Must have high level of interpersonal skills to communicate with both internal/external customers

· Must have ability to independently perform a wide range of activities under general guidance from supervisors

• Must be able to apply knowledge of computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

· Must have ability to read and interpret documents such as DOT regulations, safety rules, operating and technical procedure manuals, instructions, correspondence, and memos; ability to write routine reports, and develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

· Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form.

· Must have ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Effective & efficient planning, coordination, and execution of drivers and equipment to assigned destination; prepares daily, detailed shift/status reports.

• Coordinates, plans, and executes routes/deliveries in accordance to customer times, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance (PMO) standards, SMI policies and procedures, & DOT compliances.
• Provides consistent and exceptional service to all internal and external customers.
• Demonstrates understanding of the functionality of SMI Trucking computer database and other related computer systems.
• Other related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time and demonstrate manual dexterity while performing job duties.

· The employee will continuously sit, stand, walk, handle, talk, see, and hear.

· Must be able to concentrate for extended periods of time, paying attention to detail.

· Requires constant operation of standard office machines, including computer and telephone.

· Requires frequent ability to move freely about the office building.

ENVIRONMENT:

· Environment involved is mostly inside the office; some time may be required outdoors; occasionally exposed to cold, extreme heat, cluttered floor surfaces, contact with sharp objects, contact with skin irritants, hazardous cleaning solutions, hazardous equipment (mechanical moving parts), and nuisance dusty, fumes, and sprays.

· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
