Flatirons Medical Consultants is seeking BE/BC Physicians in General Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Family Medicine to bid through the Social Security Administration for a physician of your specialty to provide Disability Case Reviews.
Contractors shall assess and document impairment severity in SSA disability claims based on the listings of impairments in SSA’s Program Operations Manual System (POMS). Contractors shall provide medical reviews as part of the Federal Quality Review Process under POMS sections
If selected, the physician will need to attend a paid classroom orientation for up to 80 hours, and up to 400 mentored case file reviews as part of the orientation process. This is non-patient care, doing disability case reviews for Social Security in Boston. Travel reimbursement is not authorized with this opportunity. Physicians are allowed to work remotely once orientation has been completed.
Responsibilities:
- Review Disability Charts and medical records to determine eligibility for disability benefits
- Analyze and interpret medical information to assess the severity and impact of disabilities
- Evaluate the consistency and completeness of documentation provided
- Identify any discrepancies or inconsistencies in medical records
- Collaborate with medical professionals and other team members to gather additional information as needed
- Prepare detailed reports summarizing findings and recommendations
Experience:
- Previous experience in Disability Chart Review or a related field is preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology and understanding of medical records
- Familiarity with disability benefit programs and regulations
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex medical information
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in reviewing documents
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with medical professionals and team members
This position requires a high level of attention to detail, critical thinking, and the ability to work independently. The successful candidate will have a strong background in reviewing medical records and assessing disabilities. They will also possess excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with medical professionals and provide clear and concise reports.
