Walmart's Indirect Tax Team plays a critical role in the company's financial operations, focusing on audit, compliance, and operational aspects of sales and Use Tax. As a Fortune 1 market leader, Walmart is committed to transforming its end-to-end tax calculation system and processes, embarking on a multi-year journey to centralize and modernize its tax engine and compliance reporting. The team is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of transaction taxes charged to customers and members across Walmart and Sam's Club domestic operations. With responsibility for reporting and remitting transactional taxes across thousands of jurisdictions, the Indirect Tax Team also provides valuable insights to key tax policy stakeholders.

As a Director on the Indirect Tax Team, you will...
- Lead the US Sales and Use Tax Audit team while strategically overseeing all US Sales and Use Tax Audits and Controversy.
- Work closely with Sales and Use Tax Operations teams, Compliance teams, and Tax Technology and Data team to resolve audits effectively and efficiently.
- Provide guidance on continuous improvements and streamlining our ways of working.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with tax authorities and external advisors.
- Manage Tax Audits and inquiries, negotiate with tax authorities, and resolve tax disputes.
- Support tax policy by monitoring changes in tax legislation and communicate implications to the organization.
- Mentor and develop team members, providing ongoing feedback and identifying opportunities for growth.
You'll sweep us off our feet if you have...
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field; CPA or advanced degree in Taxation is a plus.
- 10+ years of experience in Indirect Tax, preferably with exposure to retail, big 4, or mid-tier firms.
- Strong knowledge of sales and Use Tax, product tax, excise tax, transaction tax, gross receipts tax, and tax technical concepts.
- Proficiency in tax data analysis and leveraging data to optimize tax strategies.
- Experience working with multiple jurisdictions and navigating complex tax regulations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
