Job description

Reporting to the Assistant Dean for External Relations and Career Management, this position
directs and manages the Stuart School of Business Career Management Center ( CMC ) as it
assists all students, alumni, faculty, and employer clients in the development of career
education, career identification and search, and pursuit of employment opportunities
commensurate with formal academic pursuits. Areas of responsibility include: career-related
programming, employer relations, career outcomes analysis and reporting, current student
career advising and authorizations, and alumni career support. This position is responsible for
supporting the Assistant Dean in designing, implementing, and maintaining policies and
processes for the Stuart CMC .
COMMUNICATIONS
Effective, courteous, and responsive communications skills (oral, written,
presentation) required to interact with internal and external stakeholders at a variety of levels,
including C-suite executives. Experience delivering presentations to a variety of audiences
required. Ability to effectively and respectfully represent Stuart at industry events and special
occasions that affect the image and reputation of the Illinois Tech Stuart School of Business andgive presentations to various stakeholders is required. Closely coordinates communication with
the dean, assistant dean, program directors, Elevate, and faculty from Stuart and across Illinois Tech to ensure
that the CMC is meeting the needs of the academic programs both at Stuart and at the broader
university.

Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive and productive
relationships with internal and external stakeholders required. Ability to connect and build
effective advising relationships with a diverse, primarily international student population
essential. Must maintain professional and respectful demeanor at all times. Must set high
standards for service and support in career advising and employer relations. Must be able to
take ownership of assigned projects.

Qualifications
Education & Experience
Education & Experience: Master’s degree in business, HR, higher education administration,
college student personnel, or related field required. Requires minimum 7 years of experience in
Career Management, advising, coaching, employer relations, personnel recruitment, or related
field. Experience working with diverse student populations, including adult students, online
students and international students required. Previous teaching or facilitation experience
strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience with cross-cultural communication strongly
preferred.

Knowledge of requirements for maintenance of international student visa.
Prior involvement in professional associations for Career Management.
Prior experience with NACElink or other career services platforms.
Familiarity with business curricula and business disciplines.
Ability to quickly develop a professional network of business and industry professionals,
particularly those who could hire Stuart graduates.
Demonstrated public relations/marketing abilities to be used on behalf of the business
school as a whole and the Career Management office specifically
SUPERVISION & BUDGET AUTHORITY
Supervisory & Budget Authority: May supervise student assistants and interns. No budget
responsibility, but may be responsible for managing expenses related to some programs,
events, or activities. Develops short and long range operating plans, programs and services,
personnel, technology/other equipment, and space. Provides guidance and leadership to staff,
including training (as needed), staff evaluation (includes merit consideration), professional
development, and related personnel matters.

Certifications and Licenses
List any certifications or licenses that are either required or helpful in performing the job, designating whether required or preferred.
Masters degree from an accredited institution in business, higher education or related field.

Programming and Partnerships

  • Collaborates closely with Stuart and Illinois Tech staff and faculty to design, advertise,
implement, and assess career-related programs and events that support the professional
success of students and alumni
  • Ensures appropriate programming is offered using a variety of delivery methods to meet
the needs of different student and alumni populations
  • Manages employer recruitment programming including frequent on-campus company
information sessions, off-campus career fairs, and on-campus career fairs coordinated
by Illinois Tech Career Services

Employer Relations
  • Responsible for maintaining the CMC’s existing industry relationships and continuously
networking to create new partnerships
  • Manages weekly on-campus presentations and information sessions by employers,
including recruitment of presenters
  • Manages key industry partnerships and arranges company tours with organizations
relevant to the academic disciplines and career objectives of Stuart students and alumni
  • Recruits companies for Stuart career fairs and manages the preparation of candidates
for interviews and employer networking

  • Advises current students and alumni both one-on-one and in groups on their career
development, internship and job search techniques, resumes and cover letters, and
effective interviewing skills
  • Processes Curricular Practical Training applications
  • May work with prospective and admitted students in support of Stuart’s admission and
recruitment responsibilities; may include collaboration with Illinois Tech’s recruiting and
admission teams as well as Stuart administration and Program Directors
