Director of Strategic Market Development
The Role:
AMD is looking for an experienced Director, Strategic Market Development China for an exciting role within the Datacenter Server Business Unit, responsible for managing the end-to-end success of AMD's China OEM and on-prem server business. A key part of the role involves crafting the strategy and managing tactical execution while interacting closely with AMD sales, operations, engaging local China ISVs, and marketing teams to ensure strong customer engagements and deliver compelling and competitive datacenter server solutions. This role will report directly to a CVP in AMD Server BU and will be based in U.S.
The Person:
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in China with specific background in server systems, platforms, silicon, and software ecosystem. Success in the role requires strong leadership skills to motivate and engage AMD executives, sales leaders, FAEs, engineers, architects, marketers, program managers, finance, and business development professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- You will eventually manage a team of Market Development managers and have overall accountability to deliver business success at China On-prem and OEM customers.
- You'll drive the strategy and playbook for AMD's engagement with China OEM customers and end customers through deep understanding of customer/segment needs, and proven ability to synthesize a comprehensive overall hardware + software solution.
- You'll be responsible for the execution of annual objectives as measured by end-customer design wins, revenue, and gross margin.
- You will be responsible for managing responses and escalations from/to sales.
- You will define specific programs, customer, and partner engagements to create compelling and competitive datacenter solutions that will drive growth measured as increased revenues and increased market share.
- You will work closely with sales, product marketing, business development, and other key stakeholders to ensure successful adoption of new products with China OEMs and end customers.
- You will work closely with Enterprise Business Group teams to enable design and delivery of compelling AMD based OEM portfolio and value proposition that combines AMD technologies with the account needs to achieve design win / revenue objectives.
- You will own BU product forecasting and inventory to ensure efficient business operations.
Requirements:
- Possess an undergraduate degree in a technology related discipline. MBA and Master's Degree are preferred.
- Possess 20+ years of relevant experience in the Computer industry. Experience in server hardware and software is required.
- Possess 10+ years of experience in managing teams in China or related to China.
- Proven work experience with managing quarterly forecasts, pricing, customer portfolio/roadmaps alignment, driving design wins, sell-in and sell-out enablement and crafting overall account strategies.
- Possess an understanding of where technology is heading and how to use it to make an impact on driving customer interest.
- Have solid experience and thorough understanding of datacenter, China ISV & OEMs, and channel business models.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities along with a strong collaborative style.
- Ability to lead, influence and project manage global cross functional teams.
- Demonstrated communication skills, both written and verbal, including presenting to different audiences - customers, media, analysts, technical experts, and senior executives.
- Possess a network of industry relationships with potential partners, competitors, customers and thought leaders.
- Strategic thinker with a high level of integrity and strong work ethic.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
