Director, Project Dragonfly Program

Job Summary:

Director for the Project Dragonfly graduate program who will have primary responsibility for the management, oversight, and vision/strategic planning of an online graduate program in environmental and life sciences. This Director reports to the Chair of the Department of Biology. This position begins July 1, 2024.

Duties/Physical Demands:

The Director’s duties will include:
• Supervision and oversight for staff members whose primary assignment is to Project Dragonfly; evaluate staff members and support their professional goals and development.
• Supervise and evaluate faculty whose primary assignment is to Project Dragonfly in collaboration with the Chair of Biology
• Provide oversight and support for staff members executing program marketing, admissions, curriculum management, and program assessment.
• Collaborate with the Department Chair of Biology for course scheduling and staffing.
• Lead search processes for staff members and collaborate with the Department Chair of Biology during searches for faculty who will teach in the Project Dragonfly curriculum.
• Lead the Dragonfly instructional team on course planning and design; guide program curriculum updates and development; and provide assessment of the program.
• Steer the implementation of a vision for the program and future directions.
• Hold fiscal responsibility for Project Dragonfly budget accounts.
• Ensure program compliance with all university policies and state/national regulations.
• Serve as the instructor of record for up to 4 academic courses in a calendar year.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Biology or closely related field. Current full-time faculty and staff employees who have work responsibility in the Project Dragonfly program at Miami University and experience in online program delivery and curriculum development.

Desired Qualifications:

Consideration may be given to candidates with a demonstrated record of leadership and compliance with university/state/national regulations related to online curriculum delivery, financial management, and hiring practices.
