Job Description

Salary:

Remote within the United States. Some travel is needed.

About the Role:

RAIN is a leader in Healthcare AI, with offices in NYC, Seattle, and Abu Dhabi. We are building a ground-breaking, multi-modal custom voice assistant, ORVA, to help revolutionize the healthcare industry. ORVA is purpose-built for the operating room. From hands-free event logging to care team coordination to on-demand data retrieval, ORVA empowers perioperative teams to save time and improve care.

We are looking for an experienced, capable, Director of Product User-Interface and User Experience design to join our team. You must have a passion for emerging technology, including knowledge of the latest developments. This role is for someone who is interested in leading the design function at a mature start-up.

In this role, you will work closely with the VP of Product and the Go-to-Market team to bring to life the vision & execution of ORVA. In this nimble, hybrid role, you will own all areas of the UI/UX workstream, including interface design and testing, prototyping; user experience research & strategy; and feature identification. Your work will define how users interact through both voice and touch interactions across various use cases. The role will encompass both strategic and execution elements as the product evolves based on customer feedback. You will also have an opportunity to further refine the overall product vision, branding, and personality with the leadership team.

You will seek to deeply understand the customer, their environment, and need states. We are looking for someone who can “think big” and understands how to break down work into use cases to ship products quickly.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead design from concept to final execution, balancing business initiatives, technological capabilities, and user needs.
  • Drive the strategy & execution design with a strong point of view on how UI works in concert with other interactions, including voice and hardware components like microphones.
  • Facilitate discovery processes, including research, information gathering and analysis.
  • Translate knowledge of user behavior into structured conversational design patterns.
  • Create documents that demonstrate the user experience. Including scripts, wireframes, journey maps, functional specs, user flows, personas, use scenarios, decks, and other tangible documentation required throughout a project for voice-driven multimodal products, i.e., websites, mobile apps, screened devices, wearables, and voice.
  • Develop prototypes that explore your designs and allow for feedback from users and stakeholders.
  • Participate and lead ideation sessions with internal teams and clients.
  • Leverage data to rationalize design decisions.
  • Work with the team on use case development for execution within two-week sprints.
  • Provide documentation for execution within two-week sprints.
  • Participate in all product ceremonies to support rapid development.
  • Build a design backlog/plan to stay ahead of upcoming development needs.
  • Anticipate opportunities and roadblocks and proactively seek to resolve in concert with the product team.
  • Document and organize design files in the cloud (Figma, Google docs, Sketch, VoiceFlow, etc.)

What You’ll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (in UX, graphic design, or HCI highly preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on design experience.
  • Experience leading UI/UX design in a startup culture or innovative company.
  • Experience developing concepts and UX designs in the healthcare industry is highly preferred.
  • Experience with multi-modal, hardware & software components (IoT highly preferred).
  • Ability to manage senior product stakeholders to drive direction and execution.
  • Experience with user-centered design principles, processes, and techniques.
  • Experience with prototyping, wireframes, user research, A/B testing.
  • Experience with design tools (i.e., Figma, Sketch, OmniGraffle, LucidChart, etc.) and communication tools (i.e., PowerPoint, Keynote, etc.).
  • Desire to keep current on digital and emerging technologies; constantly striving to learn more and share with others.
  • Ability to clearly communicate ideas and concepts.
  • Ability to thrive in an ambiguous, fast-moving, remote environment where collaboration, communication, and ownership are key.
  • Your interpersonal skills are off the chart! You’re able to communicate well with internal stakeholders, set appropriate expectations, and build relationships of trust with diverse teams even in remote settings.

Examples of work are required.
