The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Associate Dean of Academic and Student Affairs, the Assistant Director is responsible for providing services and programs that promote GSAPP's mission and academic goals. In addition, the Assistant Director will provide current and accurate educational information and resources, and tools to assist faculty in delivering quality programs and enabling students to achieve timely degree completion.

Responsibilities



  • The Assistant Director is responsible for the academic orientation of newly admitted students; is an active participant in orientation events and advising of incoming students; provides workshops on issues related to course and program development; administers and supports the degree audit system; provides resources, tools, and training to faculty to ensure student success and timely degree completion; ensures that assessment and program reviews are occurring on schedule and supported by Academic Affairs; and administers course evaluations for credit-bearing courses. The Assistant Director is responsible for verifying course scheduling and updating changes online in SSOL and Slate. Updates and manages the Slate database to reflect course waivers and advanced standing for degree candidates. Each term, the Assistant Director tracks satisfactory academic progress (SAP) for all GSAPP students and updates SIS / SSOL. Assists the Associate Dean in preparing the final graduation lists and Optimal Practical Training (OPT) approvals. (25%)
  • The Assistant Director will represent GSAPP Academic and Student Affairs at key internal and external meetings and architecture school initiatives. In addition, the Assistant Director will be the primary liaison with the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) and the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). (10%)
  • Working closely with the Associate Dean to ensure that all analytical tools, processing, communication, and verification services for the Academic Affairs Office are optimized. (10%)
  • The Assistant Director works with the Associate Dean to manage accreditation, assessment, and strategic planning. Liaisons with Provost Office, filing new programs and academic agreements in the CU Database for Agreements, Renewals Center + Institutes (DARCI), and CU Academic Approval System (APAS). (10%)
  • The Assistant Director is responsible for the day-to-day administration of GSAPP's special programs (Introduction to Architecture Program and the Shape of Two Cities New York Paris Program). The Assistant Director handles all matters regarding onboarding these Special Students and is an active participant in orientation and advising. The Assistant Director is the first point of contact and is responsible for dual-degree candidates' orientation and academic advising. (10%)
  • Assists the Associate Dean in setting, preparing evaluation templates, and analyzing course evaluation data in Evalukit. In addition, prepares periodic assessment reports and analyses from data in SSOL, SDR, and Canvas. (10%)
  • Assists the Associate Dean with promoting and implementing special projects and academic initiatives, i.e., Summer Workshops, Course Travel including on and off-campus presentations, coordination of receptions, and participates in other recruitment activities as determined by the Associate Dean. (10%)
  • Cultivates and maintains relationships with faculty, administrators, current students, and alumni and solicits their participation in GSAPP Academic Affairs and compliance with educational integrity policies. Coordinates communications with GSAPP administrative and program offices (e.g., advertising, publications, website, content management, etc.). (10%)
  • Performs other relevant duties as assigned and needed. (5%)


Minimum Qualifications




  • Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent experience required, and minimum 3-5 years related experience.



  • Requires excellent organization and communication skills and basic budgeting and accounting skills. Ability to exercise patience, maintain confidentiality, and field general inquiries about the School programs and facilities. Must be able to work independently, quickly, and efficiently to serve a diverse student body.




Preferred Qualifications




  • Preferred Qualifications: 2-4 years of academic administration is preferred, as is familiarity with college and/or graduate-level academic processes and procedures, Slate and Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite software, and FileMaker Pro or other database software.



  • Experience with architectural education and/or degree in architecture or related discipline preferred.
