Summary
This position, reporting to the Sr. Director - FP&A, will be responsible for supporting the finance and accounting needs pertaining to the company's various R&D collaborations and partnerships, with the largest focus of this role on the partnership with Gilead Sciences. Responsibilities will include serving as a contributing member of collaboration committees, owning the budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning of collaboration activities, overseeing invoicing activities to ensure billing in accordance with the terms of our collaboration agreements, partnering with the internal accounting team to ensure appropriate GAAP recording and reporting of collaboration financial results, serving as the primary finance contact with our collaboration partners, preparing and presenting internal financial reports to support management decision-making, ensuring appropriate systems and processes are in place to support collaboration business needs, spending review and analysis, monitoring of compliance with financial terms of collaboration agreements, and other duties as required. This will be an individual contributor role with opportunities for growth.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with internal and external FP&A, joint collaboration teams and alliance management to effectively budget and forecast partnership-related expenses and milestones
- Work closely with the accounting team to ensure collaboration expenses and reimbursements are properly recorded and receivables are collected
- Serve as primary finance point of contact for collaboration finance partners
- Co-own joint finance committee meetings, raising relevant topics and driving forecast updates
- Work with alliance management and internal teams to ensure financial review of joint governance items in a timely manner
- Design and implement financial principals and processes in alignment with contracts
- Monitor progress toward collaboration milestones and any associated milestone payments/accruals with alliance management and accounting
- Coordinate and review collaboration partner invoices and financial reports in accordance with terms of collaboration agreements, in partnership with internal accounting
- Ensure Arcus and collaboration partners remain in compliance with financial terms of the collaboration agreements
- Work closely with the FP&A team to monitor and analyze collaboration financial results vs. plan and effectively communicate information and conclusions to collaboration committees, business owners and finance leadership
- Own time keeping system, assess internal system needs and participate in system enhancements
- Perform/present ad hoc analysis and financial reporting to support management decision-making
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in a corporate finance/accounting support role
- Prior experience in budgeting required
- Demonstrated experience working in the biotechnology industry with a solid knowledge of R&D collaborations and clinical development highly preferred
- Highly motivated, driven and possess excellent communication skills to all levels of an organization
- Strong track record of working in a dynamic environment with competing priorities
- Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills
This role can be based at our Brisbane, CA location (preferred) or can be remote based. The anticipated salary range for fully qualified candidates applying for this position is $185,000 - $205,000. For remote-based candidates, the salary range may vary based on local market data. Factors such as relevant experience, education, duration of experience, and length of industry experience will influence the actual salary offered.
