Job description

About Management Leadership For Tomorrow (MLT)
Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT) exists to advance racial equity and social justice. We do this by elevating the career and economic trajectory of People of Color (POC) while changing employer practices to improve outcomes for all.

Launched in 2002, MLT is a national nonprofit dedicated to transforming the corporate landscape in America by empowering the next generation of diverse leaders. We believe individuals of Black, Latinx, and Native American (BLNA) descent should not just survive, but thrive. MLT's programs for BLNA talent span college through mid-career to senior-level including c-suite and board of directors. We provide the next generation of diverse leaders with skills, coaching, and valuable relationships to accelerate their personal and professional trajectories.

Today, we partner with over 200 notable organizations across a variety of fields including tech, finance, and education. With over two decades of experience in developing and implementing racial equity strategies, MLT provides organizations with a winning DEI playbook, strategies, and tactics. Our Racial Equity at Work Certification Programs set a clear standard and roadmap for companies that are committed to advancing Black and Hispanic Equity in their workplaces.

MLT's Tech Sector / West Coast Team
MLT's Tech Sector / West Coast team partners with companies to develop and recruit top Black, Latinx, and Native American talent with the potential to become senior leaders of impact and influence within the Tech Sector and in other companies located on the West Coast, primarily in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA. MLT partners play a critical role in recruiting, developing, and accelerating MLT's rising leaders. Companies' willingness to partner and renew/expand their annual MLT partnership depends upon successful engagement and execution with MLT's programs and services to help meet their objectives: hiring MLT undergraduate fellows, MLT MBA fellows, and MLT alumni (Rising Leaders) into key roles and progressing their company along their DEI journey.

Currently, 2,500+ MLTers work at Tech companies, including partners such as Google, Amazon, Apple, LinkedIn, Netflix, Comcast, Adobe, and Dell Technologies. Additionally, MLT has established partnerships with VC firms such as Greylock Partners, Andreessen Horowitz, Kapor Capital, and others. The number of MLTers in Tech and the types of companies we partner with continue to grow, particularly as we have grown our technical talent pipeline to 600+ sophomore software engineers in our current undergraduate class. To that end, MLT also partners strategically with organizations whose values, missions, and activities align with MLT, such as CodePath, SMASH, Reboot Representation, and others.

Director, Partner Success (Tech Sector / West Coast)
The Director, Partner Success (Tech Sector / West Coast) will be responsible for managing and helping grow MLT's portfolio of existing and potential partners within the Tech Sector and on the West Coast, particularly the San Francsico Bay Area, CA.  This role will work closely with partners to identify and facilitate opportunities to grow their pipeline of diverse talent, empower diverse leaders of impact and influence within their organization, and advance their organization on their DEI journey, leveraging the breadth of MLT's programs and services.

The Director, Partner Success (Tech Sector / West Coast) is an externally facing role but requires close and ongoing collaboration with, and the ability to influence, many internal MLT teams and stakeholders. In collaboration with the MLT Business Development team and the Tech Sector Partnerships Lead, this role will guide strategy and execution to grow the number of Tech Sector / West Coast partners.  This includes not only pitching new partners but also working with existing partners to identify expanded opportunities to engage with the breadth of MLT's programs and services.  Additionally, this role will collaborate with key stakeholders across MLT's Career Prep (CP) Program, MBA Professional Development (PD) Program, Experienced Talent Network (ETN), Career Advancement Program (CAP), Advisory Services, and Racial Equity at Work (ReW) team to ensure successful delivery of MLT's program and services, affirming MLT's value proposition and laying the foundation for partner renewals.

Preferred location : San Francisco Bay Area, CA
Alternate locations : Washington, D.C. Metro Area; New York City, NY; Austin, TX; Seattle, WA; Atlanta, GA; or Boston, MA
Key Responsibilities

    • For each designated partner within the portfolio, develop and lead execution of recruiting objectives and strategies, manage data reporting, and conduct end-of-recruiting-season and end-of-contract reviews to deliver on MLT's value proposition, the partner's ROI, and contract renewal
    • Advise and collaborate with MLT's program teams on the partner "bar of excellence" in order to grow the pipeline and improve the placement outcomes for MLT fellows and alumni with Tech Sector / West Coast partners
    • Onboard and orient new partners to the MLT partnership model
    • Lead regular partnership calls/meetings (generally monthly) in close collaboration with MLT's Partner Operations team
    • Leverage data on each partner's recruiting success to advise and coach Tech Sector / West Coast partners on their strengths and opportunities to improve their ROI
    • Guide and coordinate partner branding/marketing opportunities at MLT events in alignment with partner recruiting objectives and timelines, i.e., seminars, case studies, interviews, webinars, etc.
    • Drive participation strategy for third-party national tech conferences where Tech talent and companies gravitate, developing connection opportunities for MLT fellows/alumni and partners, e.g., AfroTech, SXSW, Google I/O, Salesforce Dreamforce, Grace Hopper, etc.
    • Lead renewals and cross-sell/up-sell activities with Tech Sector / West Coast partners to support the growth of MLT's programs and services, with a focus on more advanced service offerings such as ETN, CAP, and ReW
    • Identify unmet needs of Tech Sector / West Coast partners and collaborate across internal MLT stakeholders to develop, iterate, and launch new product offerings to address unmet needs
    • In close collaboration with MLT's Business Development team and the Tech Sector Partnerships Lead, develop and execute the strategy for growing the overall number of Tech Sector / West Coast Partners engaged in MLT services, as well as the quantity and quality of opportunities that partners offer to MLT fellows and alumni
Qualifications
    • 4+ years of experience in talent acquisition at a Tech or Tech-enabled company, preferably for university program recruiting (undergrad and/or MBA), OR in Career Services / Employer Relations at a US university
    • Demonstrated experience with recruiting diverse talent and the ability to coach others on best practices to engage and recruit diverse talent
    • Demonstrated ability to leverage data and insights to identify gaps or needs and develop innovative, scalable, and partner-centered solutions
    • Prior background in cultivating partnerships, contract renewals, and negotiation is strongly preferred
    • Customer service champion: Interpersonal effectiveness and emotional intelligence to develop positive win/win relationships with MLT partners
    • Comfortable thriving in a fast-paced, team-oriented, cross-functional environment and managing through ambiguity to bring structure and clarity
    • Proficient in G-Suite and cloud-based databases and systems, with the ability to manage and analyze data to draw meaningful conclusions
    • Prior Salesforce experience is preferred
    • Willingness to travel 10-15%, depending on candidate's location, and support third-party and MLT evening and weekend conferences where partners are in attendance
MLT embraces diversity and welcomes individuals from all walks of life. We strongly encourage People of Color (POC), LGBTQIA+ community members, and transgender/non-binary individuals to apply. Our organizational strength thrives on our differences, and we are dedicated to creating an inclusive, authentic workplace where everyone can flourish.

MLT is committed to providing a safe and healthy workplace, and to modeling the highest degree of health standards for our Fellows, our Partners, and the communities we serve. We expect all MLT employees and contractors to be fully vaccinated - including the booster regimen - against the coronavirus (COVID-19), in accordance with ADA accommodations. Visitors to MLT's office in the District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia (DMV) locations or remote work sites should also expect to comply with this requirement.

Please apply to a position with MLT ONLY if you are willing and able to prove that you are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus, regardless of work location.
