Summary: The Director, Operations - T&D reports directly to the Vice President, Operations. This role takes ownership for the entire performance of projects throughout the organization for T-Line, Collections, Substation and BESS. This includes safety, quality, schedule, budget, and client satisfaction. The role is responsible to standardize, train and monitor all construction across RES T&D's portfolio to improve safety, quality, and productivity through the entire life cycle of projects from pre-construction to post construction.
- Ensure Operations Managers are verifying preparatory meetings are performed at each site before new task begin and that all trainings are properly documented.
- Identify manpower needs and ensure Operations Managers are lead and assists in hiring, deploying, and managing a high-performing team needed to accomplish business objectives. Provide a positive and engaging work environment.
- Guides and coaches' managers to ensure activities on site are understood and following established processes through quality checks.
- Follows processes for systems and communication lines on site and ensure implementation is consistent.
- Verify site teams communicate variances to clients.
- Inform executive management of project variances.
- Approve crew assignments and movements.
- Creates a culture of continuous improvement.
- Participate in reviews and changes to Safety Management Systems (SMS), Quality Managements Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and technical procedures.
- Ensure SMS, QMS, and EMS are available and being followed by project teams.
- Performs audit functions to ensure compliance.
- Completes mid-year and yearly reviews with Direct Reports.
- Ensures direct reports are completing yearly reviews with subordinates.
- Provides regular and direct feedback on performance and goal progress.
- Helps to follow existing and leads teams to create new Job Specific Work Instructions.
- Support the site team in technical, mechanical, quality and safety, utilizing systems in place.
- Engage in safety and project meeting with entire team on every site visit.
- Builds a professional relationship with the Customers and site teams.
Pre-Construction:
- Provides thorough review of potential projects and provides feedback to the estimating group.
- Assesses scope and makes recommendations for risk management and risk mitigation based on a thorough analysis of all factors involved in a project.
- Ensure kick-off meetings are held before work is started using Procore templates.
Construction:
- Verify project planning is happening - project required construction permits, reports on progress and issues to RES HSQE and Operations, budget management, and managing purchases of project related materials and equipment.
- Verify Ops Managers work with Superintendents to Identify and coordinates repairs of equipment with F&E.
- Perform weekly reviews of projects with Ops Managers to ensure they are properly staffed to ensure a safe and on time delivery.
- Has a high-level understanding of the projects, completion schedules, specifications, and specific customer needs.
- Works with the Operations Managers, Directors, HSQE management and site team to ensure that crews are working in the safest manner and within company guidelines provided in the RASWP's/RASOP's.
Post Construction
- Monitors efficient close out and tracks crew and equipment wined down.
- Provides support and manpower for any work surrounding warranty claims.
Encourages and participates in lessons learned meetings for each completed project.
Team Building and Management
- Hold weekly calls with each individual Operations Manager.
- Provide overall high-level projects updates on weekly Operations call.
- Have monthly check in calls with all Superintendents.
Client Relationship Management Accountabilities:
- Provides excellence in the management and delivery of the project in-line with the client's expectations.
- Engages in high level communication with client executive management to create relationships.
QA/QC:
- Audits QAQC job books on each project visit.
- Attends work regularly and punctually, as scheduled or expected.
- Complies with Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct and Company Policies & Procedures
- Safety and OSHA requirements (OSHA 30).
- Construction (Substation, T-line, or Collection).

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business-Preferred
Minimum of 10 years in heavy construction
Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience
Domestic and International Travel: 31%-50%
Valid Driver's License-Required
Anticipated base salary range: $175,000-$205,000
The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
