Job Title: Director of Student Engagement
Reports To: Vice President for Students
Status: Exempt, Full Time
General Description
The Director of Student Engagement will develop and implement engaging co-curricular and activities focused on mission, leadership, inclusivity, and community. They will ensure the delivery of quality and effective programs to augment and support the academic and social success of Students and compliment the learning environment. This position also works closely with faculty, staff, and students to develop, implement, and maintain a commitment to intentional, integrated, and successful programming.
The Director will maintain a visible presence on campus and will be actively engaged in the creation and support of several large-scale campus-wide events; serves as a role model and facilitator to student leaders; supports the development and maintenance of Student-driven clubs and organizations; implements co-curricular leadership; promotes student and organizational excellence and advocates on behalf of Student leaders and organizations
This is a full-time, 12-month administrator.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for developing, coordinating, and assessing a comprehensive student activities program of educational, recreational, social, and cultural programs working closely with student leaders and other key members of the Mount community.
- The Director of Student Engagement is responsible for providing a culturally relevant and inclusive campus programming environment that supports academic and social development and the mission of the College
- The Director will give particular attention and leadership with DEI within the division and for student programming working closely with Chief Diversity Officer.
- Serve as a resource person to students, campus clubs, and student organizations.
- Coordinate and implement campus-wide programming including but not limited to: Opening Weekend, Welcome Week, Spirit Week, New Student Orientation, Family Orientation, Family Weekend, Senior Week activities, and all signature student events.
- Maintain and coordinate a detailed analysis programming budget, program assessment, and annual reporting.
- Will work to coordinate student Community Service requirement for students in collaboration with other areas on campus including Academic Affairs and the Director of Desmond Center for Community Engagement & Wellness
- Be available to students and staff, including attending student and college related functions as a representative of the College during weekends and evenings
- Responsible for supervising the Associate Director of Student Activities and the Student Shuttle schedule and drivers.
- Develop and monitor the student government budget, campus activities budget, and student club budgets and oversee the distribution of the student activities fund/SGA account.
- Supervise all evening and weekend student activities programming and ensure appropriate coverage.
- Oversee the Student Engagement website content, the ticketing system and digital signage.
- Work with appropriate college personnel to develop and offer leadership-training programs for student leaders and general student population.
- Ensure the master calendar of Student activities is prepared and up to date for campus circulation and to organize the reservation of rooms through the ASTRA system.
- Responsible for the planning and implementation of the college’s Freshmen Summer Orientation and Opening Day programs, including the hiring, training, and supervision of the orientation student staff.
- Assist with the implementation of FYE and other co-curricular programming.
- Participate in College-wide functions and committees, such as open houses, new student days, Commencement, etc.
- Provide regular updates to the Vice President for Students on matters associated with student life, and submit both a yearly budget and annual report at the conclusion of each academic year.
- Participate in the development of marketing strategies to promote campus activities and services to maximize student involvement
- Participate in the Student Affairs rotation as an Administrator on-call.
- Assume other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Students.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required with a Master's in Student Affairs a plus.
- 2-3 years in a college or university setting with experience in student activities, event planning, orientation and/or residence life experience required.
- Knowledge of Student development principles is essential.
- This position requires a high degree of flexibility and self-motivation with night and weekend work required.
- The candidate should have a high level of organization and communication skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively to manage projects to successful completion
