Position Description
The Director of Strategic Data Insight, under the guidance of Chief Financial Officer, is responsible for developing and implementing improved data methodologies throughout the organization to increase profitability and operational efficiencies, while reducing redundancies and operational risk. This role will also be responsible for supporting the financial analysis and reporting related to business development opportunities.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Regular reporting and presentation of Strategic analyses and initiatives to the senior management team;
- Communicate with the senior management team on an on-going basis relative to strategic initiative progress;
- Meeting with stakeholders throughout the organization to obtain regular updates to the corporation's strategic initiatives, and reporting of such to the senior management team;
- Development of training initiatives to further enhance operational and administrative support department understanding of data, analyses, and information available to assist in achieving operational efficiencies and increased profitability;
- Assisting departments with identifying appropriate data to support SGC capital investments and major strategic initiatives, including, but not limited to: market growth strategies, property growth strategies, administrative support strategies, and development opportunities;
- Build relationships with department directors at all properties and hold meetings regularly to review financial data, validate the utility and accuracy of the data being used for decision making purposes, and educating departments on data interpretation;
- Participate in monthly financial reviews for all properties and SGC Corporate;
- Work closely with the Director of Budget and Analysis and the Financial Planning and Analysis Department to identify recommendations and actionable items resulting from review of data and analysis;
- Flexibility to adapt to evolving strategic plans, initiatives, departmental vision, and immediate business needs;
- Foster company-wide appreciation for the power of data in shaping SGC's strategic plans;
- Implement cutting-edge data practices, keep up to date on industry trends, and ensure SGC remains at the forefront of analytics excellence; and
- Harness Data Insights to inform and guide high-level strategic decisions to assist with achieving overarching business goals.
Position Requirements
Each position hasvarying minimum qualifications. In the absence of fully qualifiedcandidates, some requirements may be waived.
Education/Experience:
- Must be 18 years of age or older upon employment.
- Must have a minimum of a four-year degree in Mathematics, Economics, or Accounting.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in a financial reporting and analysis role in the gaming industry, with five (5) years of experience in a manager role.
- Intricate experience with, and knowledge of, data analysis, mining and integration (IE. extract, transform and load, or ETL; SQL queries; etc.), are required.
- Intricate experience with data visualization software and transforming data into actionable and measurable goals.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and analytical skills are required.
- Successful candidate must be an experienced, results oriented, and hands-on professional.
- Able to read, analyze and interpret complicated documents, such as technical journals, financial and statistical reports and legal documents with an ability to present information to management and other key users within the organization.
- Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions and provide solutions.
- Must demonstrate leadership, fairness, and sensibility to the customers and employees.
- Must possess ability to instill a sense of pride and personal responsibility in fellow team members.
