POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary function of the Staff Development Coordinator is to assist the Director of Nursing in the planning, organization, and implementation of skills training programs/in-services for clinical staff and other departments in accordance with current federal, state and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern the facility. The Staff Development Coordinator will work alongside the Director of Nursing with the Administrator and the Medical Director to ensure the highest degree of quality of care is maintained for each resident at all times. Follows all health, sanitary and infection control policies and maintains established standards of practice set forth by the facility's administration and Nursing Policies and Procedures.
Education & Qualifications:
  • Must possess a current, unencumbered license to practice as a RN within the state in which you work.
  • Must be able to communicate in English and have the ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Must possess and demonstrate the ability to carry out both verbal and written directions.
  • Must possess and demonstrate good interpersonal skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with supervisors, co-workers and facility leadership in the performance of duties.
  • Ability to observe proper safety and sanitary techniques.
  • Ability to work hours as scheduled based on the requirements of the position/assignment.
  • Must not pose a direct threat to the health and safety of others in the workplace.
  • Must possess creativity, integrity, and initiative.
  • Must be able to develop educational strategies to facilitate quality improvement efforts.
  • Must be able to maintain in-service educational records.
  • Must be able to coordinate the function for CNA certification training classes.
  • Must be able to coordinate with and utilize community resources in meeting educational and staffing needs.
  • Must be able to oversee the process for competency evaluation of new employees.
  • Work closely with HR regarding hiring process and new employee files.

Experience:
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in a supervisory role in a hospital, nursing facility or other related healthcare facility, preferably in long term care.
  • Must have TTE certificate and experience with teaching Nurse aid classes according to the Pennsylvania Department of Education guidelines.
