Director of Social Media

We are looking for a Director of Social Media to drive engagement across existing and emerging social platforms for AKA’s roster of entertainment and cultural clients. The Director will develop integrated strategies around fan engagement, community management, sponsored and branded social integrations and more. This person will also have a strong vision for creating compelling content and will work closely with the creative team to identify and develop new and innovative ways to grow audience and engagement through breakthrough content across social platforms.
Reporting to the Head of Digital Strategy & Social Media, the Director of Social Media is a full-time exempt role that is based in New York City.
WHAT YOU’LL DO (IN BRIEF):
- Oversee planning and execution of client Social Media strategies, including goal setting, budgeting, creative development, content scheduling, and community management.
- Lead development of comprehensive integrated strategies encompassing Social Media, influencer partnerships, and collaborations to meet client objectives.
- Drive optimization efforts across platforms by leveraging data, algorithms, and emerging trends, while also providing insights on emerging technologies to ensure the agency remains at the forefront of digital content delivery.
- Spearhead innovative ideation and storytelling efforts, ensuring client brands are authentically represented across various content formats to engage audiences effectively.
- Collaborate closely with Creative Services to develop and implement diverse content strategies, leveraging Social Media trends and ensuring scalability within client budgets.
- Drive community building initiatives and propose novel approaches for content distribution, while also providing thought leadership on emerging technologies to maintain the agency's edge in digital content delivery.
- Identify, train, manage, and develop Social Media talent while serving as a thought leader within the agency and industry. Contribute to whitepapers, posts, and workshops on social trends, and actively engage in new business opportunities to integrate social into campaigns.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- 8 years of experience in integrated or content marketing, Social Media, communications from a B2C perspective for entertainment, cultural, or arts clients (agency experience a plus).
- Passion for Social Media and its impact on fandom.
- Strong creativity and ability to craft compelling content, develop new ideas, and to stay abreast of current trends and technology.
- Demonstrated experience in developing creative content for Social Media platforms.
- A passion for entertainment and the arts.
- The ability to take initiative and solve problems.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, and an ability to influence stakeholders.
WHAT WE OFFER:
- A competitive salary between $95,000 - $120,000, commensurate with experience
