General Responsibilities
Develops and implements comprehensive fundraising programs including donor identification, cultivation and relations; annual giving; major gifts; soliciting private support from corporations, foundations, friends of the college, and other revenue-generating activities. Develops a network of individuals who can assist the college through financial, legislative and marketing support.
Work Performed
Solicits gifts by identifying and cultivating prospective donors and funding sources
Develops and implements new strategies for philanthropic support through fundraising activities
Assists the Executive Director in matters regarding major gifts, strategic planning and board relations
Provides executive level administrative support to the executive Director of the foundation and the college president related to the college's major gifts campaign
Coordinates donor recognition program
Solicits major gifts prospects
Responsible for the development of various event committees
Works closely with various college departments in order to meet the needs of our donors and potential donors
Oversee grants function including strategic direction and vision in coordination with grants coordinator/writer
Build and foster long-term relationships with donors who require continuous cultivation
Develops and administers annual gift program
Assists with developing and updating strategic plan for the development unit
Develops and implements annual fundraising plan for the development unit
Utilize the donor/prospect tracking system
Performs prospect development and research
Participates in meetings and professional development activities, serves on committees, and represents the college at community/institutional functions
Provides general support at foundation events
Performs other duties as assigned

Excellent networking and relationship building skills
Ability to work effectively with diverse constituents including faculty, staff, students, college trustees, Howard Community College Educational Foundation board of directors, corporate executives, community leaders, and alumni
Demonstrated ability to prepare correspondence and reports and to perform other complex administrative duties without direct supervision
Excellent technical knowledge of computers, database software and its potential use in the development office
Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and coordinate tasks and projects, with attention to details and deadlines
Knowledge of proper business English forms, grammar, spelling and typing formats
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Some weekends and evenings
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to the development office conflict of interest and confidentiality policy
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines
Regular attendance is a requirement of this job
Performs all duties while considering the impact of any actions on the college's sustainability initiatives in the areas of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic prosperity

Howard Community College offers competitive salaries, excellent medical and dental selections, tuition reimbursement and paid leave programs. As a participating member of the Maryland Retirement and Pension System, HCC offers two retirement options: The Pension, which requires a 7% employee contribution and The ORP, a 403(b) with a 7.25% employer contribution only. Employees in positions that do not require a bachelor's degree must participate in The Pension. Employees that possess a bachelor's degree and hold professional positions that require a bachelor's degree may choose to participate in either The Pension or The ORP.
