Position Title
Assistant Director of Resource Development FLSA Exempt FT/PT Full Time Hours Per Week 37.5 Work Schedule M-F 8:30-5 Grade 16 Minimum Compensation $70,358 General Responsibilities
Provides leadership and management of database functions, social media, and marketing. Assist with the development and implementation of fundraising program including donor identification, cultivation, and solicitation. Responsible for alumni and employee giving program.
Work Performed
Solicits gifts by identifying and cultivating prospective donors and funding sources
Solicits event sponsorships and donations by identifying and cultivating prospective donors
Conducts internal annual employee giving campaign
Coordinates annual gift program
Supervises the production of special events
Performs prospect research
Oversees database functions including strategic use of data
Plans, organizes and conducts alumni events and initiatives
Assists with developing and updating strategic and annual plans for the development unit
Coordinates communication plans with public relations for the development office and the HCCEF, in conjunction with the Director of Resource Development
Manages and maintains the development and foundation web pages, portal and social media sites
Implements donor recognition efforts
Composes and/or edits correspondence, proposals, reports and other communications as necessary
Identifies and performs process improvement initiatives for the development office
Utilize the donor/prospect tracking system
Provides support at foundation events
Performs other duties as assigned
Participates in meetings and professional development activities, serves on committees, and represents the college at community/institutional functions
Minimum Education Required Associate's degree Minimum Number of Years Experience Required 7 Other Knowledge Required
Associates degree with at least five years' experience in fundraising activities, preferably in higher education
Proven track record in fundraising initiatives including special events
Demonstrated organizational and supervisory skills
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse constituents including faculty, staff, students, college trustees, HCCEF board of directors, corporate executives, community leaders, and alumni
Knowledge of financial/accounting reporting and record keeping
Ability to coordinate projects/activities including managing volunteers
Ability to organize and implement work schedule effectively
Knowledge of proper business English forms, grammar, spelling and typing formats
Excellent technical knowledge of computers, database software and its potential use in the development office

Howard Community College offers competitive salaries, excellent medical and dental selections, tuition reimbursement and paid leave programs. As a participating member of the Maryland Retirement and Pension System, HCC offers two retirement options: The Pension, which requires a 7% employee contribution and The ORP, a 403(b) with a 7.25% employer contribution only. Employees in positions that do not require a bachelor's degree must participate in The Pension. Employees that possess a bachelor's degree and hold professional positions that require a bachelor's degree may choose to participate in either The Pension or The ORP.
