JOB PURPOSE:
Plans, monitors and directs strategically and operationally important projects and programs across the
System Quality and Safety department. Provides high quality project management, program
development, and analysis for an array of clinical and operational issues with major emphasis on QSS
scorecard focus areas not limited but to include Leapfrog metrics and Patient Safety Indicators (PSI)
improvement. Partners with key organizational and operational leaders to identify and achieve priorities,
goals, and objectives of each initiative. Interfaces directly with PHC system, Physician Enterprise,
Piedmont Clinic and hospital executive and service line leadership. Director responsible for the Project
Management resources within the Quality/Safety/Medical Staff Department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides consultative, technical, and decision-making support to the System Quality and Safety
Executive leadership regarding quality and/or operational improvements and strategic growth
initiatives.
2. Directs the administration of PHC strategic programs for Quality, Safety and Service Steering
Committee, the Leapfrog Annual Survey, Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, Patient Safety Indicators
and other metrics as determined by the System Quality executive leadership team. Maintains expert
knowledge of PHC strategic programs (Leapfrog, Hospital Safety Grade) and collaborates with
Decision Support, Clinical Business Intelligence and Hospital Leadership for all hospitals and service
line leadership to ensure proper collection and analysis of data to generate inputs and maximize
performance.
3. Participates on the Executive Leadership team of the System Quality and Safety department.
4. Oversees agendas, programs, project teams, work plans and other essential functions including
minutes and meeting coordination to complete strategic initiatives and achieve key operational
metrics for the health system including all agendas for the System Quality/Safety/Service (QSS)
meetings and Board Quality/Safety subcommittee,
5. Assists System Quality and Safety leaders to coordinate and standardize work for the Director Quality
Safety Integration (DQSIs) and Physician Practice leadership to ensure effective quality improvement
and other initiatives are consistent across the Piedmont Enterprise and implemented in the most
effective manner to include the Physician Enterprise Quality and Safety monthly operating review
preparation,
6. Serves as the Director Quality and Safety Integration for the Physician Enterprise Ambulatory
Quality/Safety/ Service meeting to include follow-up with key leaders for the implementation of
quality/safety improvements,
7. Coordinates agendas for the System Quality Executive leadership team meeting and organizes
meeting materials to include inviting other team members as appropriate to ongoing System Quality
team meetings.
8. Works to incorporate the Clinical Governance Committees (CGCs) into the QSS governance
structure through coordination with the Director, Clinical Integration.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED:
Bachelors degree in Health Systems, Engineering, Business Administration or related field required.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Seven (7) years of progressively responsible professional work experience involving project
management, quality, or process improvement, to include three (3) years in a healthcare environment.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Masters degree preferred.
