QA Director – Big Bird West
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
This position is responsible for the Food Safety & Quality Assurance activities for the Big Bird West QA Director. This position directly supervises the QA Managers at the respective facilities.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science, or similar field; or five (5) years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and training.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong management skills.
- Food Safety/Quality auditing experience preferred.
- Ability to critically examine and audit technical procedures for both food safety and quality. Preference for excellent problems solving skills.
- Ability to collect and analyze data using basic statistics, draw conclusions based on facts, and write succinct reports.
- Ability to work in an environment of changing priorities and levels of intensity.
- Ability to work independently and with limited supervision, as well as with others as a member of a team.
- Preference to experience presenting and communicating scientific data to audiences.
- Must have good computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc). SAP experience a plus.
• Must be able to communicate with USDA, customer, consumers and internal partners in a professional/courteous manner at all times.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides direct supervision for the QA Managers at the facilities.
- Ensures that plant QA are running efficiently while maintaining a safe workplace. Work with QA Managers on optimization of time/space/resources
- Generate reports describing QA activities, trends, and expenditures as well as communicate findings and action plans to necessary/appropriate parties
- Interact with and guide plant personnel when questions relating to food safety & quality arise
- This position is considered on call. Directed activities therefore could occur on nights, weekends & holidays
- Travel expected at 75%
- Big Bird West Locations: Russellville, AL, Nacogdoches, TX, Douglas GA
- Other duties as assigned by US Head of FSQA
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those a team member encounters while performing the essential function of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the team member will be exposed to both an office environment and the production environment of wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the production environment is usually loud.
