Job Summary:
Reporting to the Vice President of Revenue Cycle, this crucial role oversees and manages the financial aspects of the Physician Revenue Cycle operations. This position requires a combination of financial expertise, leadership skills, and a deep understanding of healthcare billing and reimbursement processes. The Director will collaborate with various departments to ensure efficient and accurate financial operations while maintaining compliance with regulatory guidelines.
Essential Job Functions:

  • Strategic Leadership:
    • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to optimize the Revenue Cycle and improve financial performance.
    • Provide leadership and direction to the patient financial services team.
  • Revenue Cycle Management:
    • Oversee the Revenue Cycle, including billing, collections, and account resolution.
    • Implement best practices to maximize revenue and reduce accounts receivable.
  • Compliance and Regulations:
    • Stay current with healthcare regulations, billing guidelines, and reimbursement policies to ensure compliance.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures that adhere to regulatory requirements.
  • Team Management:
    • Recruit, train, and mentor staff within the patient financial services department.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that encourages productivity and professional growth.
  • Financial Analysis:
    • Analyze financial data and key performance indicators to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
    • Provide regular reports and presentations to senior leadership on financial performance.
  • Technology and Systems:
    • Evaluate and recommend technology solutions to streamline billing and Revenue Cycle processes.
    • Ensure the effective use of billing and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Patient Communication:
    • Collaborate with patient relations and customer service teams to address patient inquiries and concerns related to billing and financial matters.
    • Develop and implement strategies to enhance patient education on financial responsibilities.
  • Collaboration with External Stakeholders:
    • Collaborate with payers, insurance companies, and other external stakeholders to resolve billing and reimbursement issues.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with healthcare billing and EHR systems, EPIC experience is preferred.
  • Ability to analyze complex financial data and make strategic decisions.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, finance, or a related field; masters degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience in physician healthcare finance, Revenue Cycle management, and billing operations.
  • Strong knowledge of Physician reimbursement methodologies, coding systems, and regulatory requirements.
  • Leadership experience with a proven track record of successfully managing teams.
  • Certification in healthcare finance or coding (e.g., HFMA, AAPC) is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
  • The work is considered light-to-medium in nature and involves walking or standing much of the time and involves exerting between 20 and 40 pounds of force on a recurring basis, or considerable skill, adeptness, and speed in the use of fingers, hands or limbs in tasks involving close tolerances or limits of accuracy.
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
