Starting Salary: $36,000-$45,000, Commensurate w/qualifications & experience

Position Summary:
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Director of Operations provides leadership for programming and staff of assigned departments and oversees physical building operations. Facilitates performance, maintains high standards and conditions to lead a staff team that fosters a safe and welcoming environment with an emphasis on providing the highest level of customer service. Creates a culture of revenue generation, growth, and fiscal responsibility.
Essential Functions:
- Oversees building operations to ensure high standards of maintenance, safety, cleanliness and to assure that the requirements of regulatory codes are fully met.
- Oversees high quality customer engagement strategies and programs in assigned departments that support the YMCA’s goals and strategies.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, and directs employees and for assigned departments. Evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Develops, manages, and monitors assigned department budgets to meet or exceed targets.
- Establishes plans for the expansion of programs and services in assigned departments, in harmony with overall YMCA objectives and the leadership team.
- Oversees the association’s safety, security, and risk management protocols.
- Provides leadership and support for policy development and implementation.
- Provides support for the organization’s annual campaign.
- Other duties as assigned by the CEO. Is willing to step up, even if outside of the position description, to contribute to the overall success of the YMCA.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in human services, recreation, business, or a related field, or equivalent, preferred.
- Three - five years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
- Strong management and decision-making skills including the ability to influence, engage, and lead others to new levels of effectiveness and programmatic impact.
- Experience and knowledge of the Aquatics, Recreation, or Fitness industry is preferred, but can be trained for a hard-working, dynamic leader.
- Ability to multi-task and direct assigned departments simultaneously.
- Self-motivated, results driven, detail oriented, and adaptable.
- Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
- Exceptional written and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse group of staff and clients.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office tools and database systems.
- Must submit to and successfully pass a criminal history background check.
- Must understand, support, and be able to articulate the YMCA’s Mission and core values.
- Completion of necessary YMCA and department specific certifications within a reasonable time frame upon hire. These include CPR/First Aid/AED, and YMCA Team Leader Training.
