Our Manufacturing Operations teams are the people that make our products. We work in the manufacturing plants with a "Safety First, Quality Always" mindset striving for continuous improvement. We work in the local plant connected to our global manufacturing network to ensure the highest quality of raw materials, intermediates and finished products.
We are seeking a Growth and Improvement minded Associate Director Operations that can help drive our strategic intent: Shape the future of animal health and well-being by pioneering science, technology and insights-driven solutions for a world with enriched pet companionship and a sustainable food supply.
Strategic Summary
The Associate Director(AD) is responsible for the Blend, Fill, and Lyophilization units of our manufacturing operations at our Elkhorn, NE Animal Health facility and reports directly to the plant manager. These manufacturing operations units produce single and multi-dose fills, lyophilized and liquid stable products in both single and multi-dose formats for Companion Animal and Large Animal markets. The AD is part of the Site Leadership Team and is responsible for managing both people and production to ensure reliable supply according to the standards of safety, quality, cost, and other corporate objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Development & Leadership
  • Models Company Leadership Principles and Inclusive behaviors
  • Provides coaching and supports skills development and process capabilities.
  • Provides effective feedback and coaching with their team during the Performance Management cycle.

Safety Compliance
  • Demonstrates a strong compliance mind-set (EHS, Quality and Finance) and continuously sets a high standard for themselves and their team. Ensure that all staff adhere to the company Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards.
  • Enables their team follow safe operating instructions for all tasks and equipment.
  • Ensures the right tools and equipment specified for the task are available and utilized and the correct personal protective equipment required is available and utilized.

Quality Compliance
  • Supports the on-time completion of Quality compliance tasks in relation to Deviation, CAPA and Change Control management.
  • Supports all aspects of Quality Assurance including cGMP, RFT and good documentation practices and provides coaching to the rest of their team.

Productivity
  • Weekly and monthly schedule adherence of production activities within their department
  • Contributes to creating a culture of continuous improvement and leads by example.
  • Sponsors effective problem solving and ensures that resources are available.
  • Ensure visibility and communication of key productivity metrics with the teams.

Financial
  • Meeting agreed departmental budget for Spend, Transfers to Inventory (TTI), Discards and Headcount
  • Recognizes and investigates opportunities for financial savings.

Minimum Education Required:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, or other technical field
Required experience and skills:
  • 5 years of experience in Biologics/ Life Sciences manufacturing operations
  • 3 years of People Management experience with expertise in operations and responsibility for direct and indirect reports
  • Ability to work independently and as a Team member.
  • Track record of improving operations effectiveness

Preferred experience and skills:
  • Deploying and sponsoring MPS/Operational Excellence tools and methodology
  • High speed filling experience
  • Biopharma and Lyophilization experience highly preferred
  • cGMP environment
