The Director of Nursing is responsible for executive oversight of Lakeview Village’s nursing and related clinical services in Long-term Care, Sub-Acute Care and Assisted Living. Provides effective leadership and management of risk management, infection control, quality, safety, and compliance programs and initiatives that achieve measurable results to prevent and mitigate loss to the organization. Develops programming and coordinates implementation of person-centered care. Responsible for ensuring nursing remains within budget.
- Responsible for nursing and clinical services; ensuring that all long-term, sub-acute care, and assisted living residents receive care that meet the regulatory standards as established through CMS published Quality Indicator data and adhere to state and federal guidelines. As well as meeting the safety, infection control regulations and requirements. This includes providing clinical rounds and observations of direct care practices, providing staff education regarding effective nursing care practices, and soliciting feedback, input regarding care services provided and analyzing “systems” based on trends and best practice.
- Collaborates with Human Resources to sustain an effective program for recruitment, retention, and recognition of Nursing and clinical services staff.
- Ensures high quality resident and family member satisfaction by attending Resident Council meetings, Care Plan meetings, reviewing satisfaction surveys, and soliciting feedback regarding nursing & clinical services care and customer services.
- Keeps abreast of industry trends through scholarly literature review, anticipates future service demands, and proactively develops innovative care services to meet resident needs. Responsible for incorporating Lakeview Village policy and procedures.
- Provides staff/resident education consistent with current trends and evidence-based interventions.
- Interviews, hires, evaluates, and orients nursing personnel according to standards and reduce nursing turnover.
- Reviews/investigates incident reports and implements action plans.
- Create, implement, and educate staff on new standards, regulations, and hospital protocols to ensure Lakeview is following best practices.
- Develop and implement Quality Improvement program to improve overall care and to help manage Quality Indicators. Responsible for Infection Control Program oversight.
- Responsible for assuring that staffing in the nursing department meets budget, regulations, and resident needs.
- Maintains cooperative relationship with regulatory officials, medical representatives, organizations, and local hospitals by attending trainings, meetings, and serving on committees.
- Assumes responsibility of Director of Health Services role in absence.
- Ensures that Residents’ Rights to fair and equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property, and civil rights, including the right to express grievances are followed.
- Registered Nurse in the state of Kansas is required.
- CPR certification required.
- Infection Preventionist certification preferred.
- CDON-LTC by LTC Association preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with automated HIM electronic fully integrated virtual medical record/clinical management system is preferred.
- Possesses an empathetic approach to the elderly.
- Able to work in a team setting with residents, relatives, staff, and others.
