Director of Information Technology - Job Description

Position Overview: The Director of Information Technology is a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the organization's IT functions, with a strong emphasis on security. This executive will ensure that the company's technology infrastructure is robust, secure, and strategically aligned with our overall business goals. The Director of IT will lead the development and implementation of comprehensive IT policies and systems to support secure and efficient operations, while also fostering innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership and Supervision: Guide and oversee IT departments in the daily management of IT operations and project execution, including but not limited to, computing services, network infrastructure, datacenter infrastructure, telecommunications, software applications and development, and data integrity.

Security Oversight: Spearhead the development, implementation, and continuous refinement of security policies, protocols, and practices to protect the company's technology infrastructure and data from cyber threats.

Vendor and Contract Management: Maintain strong vendor relationships, managing contracts, licensing agreements, and negotiations to ensure favorable terms and compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

Technology Oversight: Supervise the management and strategic integration of computers, networks, telecommunications systems, and software application development functions to support organizational objectives.

Budgeting and Resource Allocation: Develop and manage IT operating and capital budgets, ensuring optimal allocation of resources for projects, purchasing, and daily operations.

Disaster Recovery Planning: Lead the development and implementation of disaster recovery and business continuity plans, ensuring the organization can quickly recover from any IT disruptions while minimizing impact on operations.

Risk Management: Conduct regular risk assessments, identify vulnerabilities within the IT infrastructure, and implement risk mitigation strategies to safeguard against potential security breaches and other risks.

Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the IT team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement to ensure the IT team is highly skilled, motivated, and equipped to meet current and future technology needs.

  • Spearhead transition to new enterprise software system being developed by outside vendor.
  • Ability to collaborate with ownership and executive leadership to relay IT iniative information.
  • Beneficial to have an understanding of AI and its ability to streamline processes.

Oualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; Master's degree or MBA preferred.

At least 10 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in IT, with a strong emphasis on strategic planning and service delivery in a complex organizational environment.

Strong knowledge of current IT technologies, trends, and solutions.

Strong knowledge of cybersecurity threats, solutions, and best practices in disaster recovery.

Direct experience in administering Microsoft Office365 and Microsoft Intune, including their security management features.

Experience with Microsoft Azure Active Directory (AAD), security policy best practices with multifactor authentication for identity and access management.

Experience with Cisco Networking solutions is desirable.

Experience with VMWare ESXi for virtualization management is desirable.

Experience with Cisco security appliances and solutions is desirable.

Experience with IDS and IPS solutions is desirable.

Experience with implementing efficient, robust, scalable, and secure distributed datacenters is highly desirable.

Proven experience in IT strategic planning, budget management, team leadership, and disaster recovery planning.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Certifications in cybersecurity (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CRISC) are highly desirable, as are relevant Microsoft, Cisco, and VMWare certifications.
