Santa Ana, California
Compensation: $100,000 to $150,000 per year including base rate and yearly performance bonus
Our client, a multi-unit, highly successful retailer doing business in 11 States including California, has an immediate opening for a Director of Human Resources to join the corporate team in Santa Ana California. The Director of Human Resources will be a key member of our leadership team, responsible for overseeing all aspects of HR Strategy and operations across multiple retail locations in different states.
We are searching for a very process driven individual to manage the various elements of our Human Resources Department. This individual must be able to create, manage and reinforce processes that are designed to enhance the HR Department’s efficiency, accuracy, and outcomes. Additionally, the candidate must have a proven track record of supporting (not attempt to change) an existing high performance, employee centered culture where the mission is to positively impact as many families and lives within and adjacent to the organization as possible.

As the Director of Human Resources, your Key Responsibilities will include:
Strategic HR Leadership:
  • Develop and execute HR strategies that support the company's growth objectives.
  • Collaborate with senior management to align HR initiatives with overall business goals.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the HR team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Employee Relations:
  • Manage employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and regulations at the state and federal levels.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture that values diversity and inclusion.
Performance Management:
  • Implement and manage performance appraisal systems to drive employee development and engagement.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers in setting performance goals and conducting performance reviews.
  • Identify opportunities for employee training and development.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Oversee compensation and benefits programs, including salary reviews, bonus structures, and employee benefits.
  • Conduct benchmarking and market analysis to ensure competitive compensation packages.
  • Manage benefits administration, including health, retirement, and wellness programs.
Employee Lifecycle:
  • Develop and implement programs designed to take our employees from day 91 to day 1000. This program should be designed to develop our employees on the journey they will take working with us.
  • Development programs to enhance employee skills, capabilities while reducing employee attrition.
  • Identify leadership development opportunities and create succession plans.
  • Foster a learning culture that encourages employee growth and advancement.
Compliance and Risk Management:
  • Stay up-to-date with federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Mitigate HR-related risks through effective policies, procedures, and training.
HR Analytics and Reporting:
  • Utilize HR analytics to assess workforce trends, turnover, and other key metrics.
  • Prepare and present HR reports to senior management for informed decision-making.

We are looking for the following qualifications for the role of Director of Human Recourses:
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of progressive HR experience, including leadership roles.
  • SHRM or HRCI certification is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations across multiple states, California employment law knowledge is a must for this position.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven experience in process creation, employee relations, and performance management.
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing HR team.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrated high ethical behavior, unquestionable integrity, and character in business transactions.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Write routine reports and business correspondence.
  • Speak effectively before Team members of the organization whether individually or in groups.
  • Excellent presentation/facilitation, organizational, analytical, interpersonal, written/oral communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed to visit retail locations across multiple states.
