POSITION OVERVIEW
Reporting to the President of Sterling, the Director of Human Resources will partner with senior management to develop and execute comprehensive HR strategies that are aligned with and support the Company's business plan for growth and profitability. The Director will develop a strong and responsive HR team to provide influential support and best-in-class HR services pertaining to culture enhancement, talent management, training and development, benefits and compensation, policy and compliance, employee and labor relations, payroll and systems and safety
Essential Job Functions
- Responsible for ensuring that the company attracts, develops and retains high-quality talent at all levels to support the growth objectives, opportunities and strategies of the company.
- Develop and implements processes focused on workforce planning, employee engagement, talent reviews, and action planning to develop leaders and ensure future workforce has skills needed.
- Conduct training needs analysis, develop strategy and execute skills training programs to prepare the workforce for Company growth.
- Provide expert, confidential, and timely counsel to management regarding all Human Resources matters. Oversee employee discipline including Personal Improvement Plans and termination actions where necessary to insure fair process and risk mitigation. Conduct internal investigations and facilitate legal reviews and responses to employment-related charges, complaints, and lawsuits.
- Develop, review, and revise effective Human Resources policies. Monitor evolving employment law landscape. Research and ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and municipal employment, benefit, and payroll tax laws.
- Regularly assess benefits and compensation plans against competitive market. Develop responsive and competitive offerings in support of talent attraction and retention objectives.
- Implement effective performance management program for business plan deployment, alignment of activities and allocation of rewards and compensation.
- Participate in the development and implementation of Company safety programs including development of a culture of prevention, training and compliance while expertly overseeing WC case management, accident investigations and recordkeeping.
- Evaluate and optimize Human Resources technology solutions including payroll, time, and attendance, HRIS, and LMS. Develop complete and comprehensive procedural guides for payroll, benefits, leaves of absence and other key processes for training and emergency back-up.
- Implement positive employee relations programs and strategies to maximize employee retention.
- Create key metrics to measure HR performance and communicate results to leaders.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in Human Resources, talent management, and employment law. Monitors exposure of the company on an ongoing basis.

- High competence in MS Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel.

- B.S. degree in business, HR, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- HR competency certifications such as SPHR, CEBS, other preferred.
- 10+ years HR experience with at least five in a senior management role in an industrial environment. Demonstrated experience across full spectrum of HR generalist responsibilities with significant knowledge of laws and regulations affecting employment, benefits, and payroll.
- Demonstrated experience in successfully developing and implementing core Human Resources processes and systems.
