About the Department:

About NC State Global

As a leading public research university, NC State is dedicated to creating prosperity in the state, across the country, and around the world. International collaboration is a critical component of these efforts – enabling shared discovery, innovation, and solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges. Equally important are opportunities for student learning and preparation for leadership and problem-solving in our rapidly changing landscape.
The Office of Global Engagement (“NC State Global”) advances the university’s internationalization efforts through the development and ongoing support of strategic partnerships with institutions abroad and through the provision of critical infrastructure, support services, and campus programs here in Raleigh. Our office serves as the primary liaison with international offices at partner universities to expand student/scholar mobility, integrate international perspectives into NC State’s academic programs, and create new pathways for research, outreach, and professional development.

Essential Job Duties:

The Director of Global Partnerships is an integral member of the NC State Global leadership team. Reporting to the Vice Provost of Global Engagement, the director provides guidance for NC State faculty and administrators in developing international collaborations, shaping value propositions that align with our institutional mission, and co-creating effective program and partnership models.
The Director coordinates the development and review of written agreements and is responsible for the evaluation and reporting of partnership activity and impact. An important aspect of this role is establishing productive working relationships with key stakeholders in the Chancellor’s Office, Provost’s Office, Office of General Council, Office of Research and Innovation, Export Controls, and global program administrators in NC State’s colleges.
The Director plays a vital role in strengthening NC State’s global relationships and reputation. This position represents NC State Global to internal and external audiences and is a primary point of contact for our partner institutions and organizations worldwide. In close cooperation with communications colleagues, the Director co-develops content that highlights NC State’s global initiatives and the benefits of collaboration for both local and global communities.
Description of Work Responsibilities
Strategic Development and Management of NC State’s Global Partnerships.

The Director actively follows trends and emerging opportunities for international collaboration and leverages this knowledge to shape NC State’s partnerships. This work includes building strong relationships with global partners and identifying external funding programs to support joint research, educational programs, interdisciplinary initiatives, and faculty/staff development. The Director organizes partnership planning meetings, convenes working groups to pursue selected programs, and facilitates program implementation as needed. Examples include Erasmus+ mobility programs and joint seed funding programs with our partner institutions.
International Agreements.
In close collaboration with NC State’s academic units, Office of General Council, and Office of Research and Innovation, the Director manages the development and review of international agreements for academic and scientific cooperation, student mobility, degree articulations, partnership networks/consortia, and extension programs. The Director manages the Global Partnership Directory (MoveOn) and will design a user-friendly, web-based visual display of international collaborations for NC State Global. This position gathers data on partnership activities, assesses outcomes and creates reports on agreement status, long-term impact and sustainability.
Delegations and Official Visits.
The Director serves as the primary host for NC State’s visiting international delegations on campus and for outgoing NC State delegations abroad. This role includes designing visits that maximize engagement with faculty, staff, and researchers and providing guidance on protocols for high-level leadership meetings and events. In partnership with the Director of Faculty Engagement, Global Programs Coordinator, and Executive Assistant, the Director coordinates travel logistics, event planning, briefing notes for senior administrators, and meeting agenda.
Communities of Practice.
Internally, the Director coordinates content and meeting agendas for the International Operations Council – a campus-wide group that includes global program representatives from our Colleges and administrative units. The Director also serves on relevant NC State committees and working groups. Examples include the global employment steering committee, substantive change review team, and academic-industry task forces. Externally, the Director maintains strong working relationships with partner institutions as well as local, national, and international organizations that advance Global Partnerships. Examples include the North Carolina Coalition for Global Competitiveness, AIEA, IIE, and NAFSA.

Other Responsibilities:

The Director of Global Partnerships is an active contributor to programs, initiatives, and priorities of NC State Global, and carries out other responsibilities as assigned by the Vice Provost. Examples include high-profile international events and NC State’s participation in consortia meetings and conferences.
The Director will also, facilitate meetings of the International Operations Council and regional faculty advisor groups, maintenance of the database of international partnerships (DICE), and
collection/compilation of resource materials for international engagement.
