Who We Are
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Assists in the development of nutrition policies and procedures.
- Assists in directing quantity food production and distribution such as developing and managing training table menus and catering.
- Advises athletics administrators on contracts and/or sponsorship specific to dietary/nutritional products and services.
- Participates as an integral member of an interdisciplinary team charged with the screening, treatment, and prevention of disordered eating/eating disorders. Develops medical nutrition therapy protocols as indicated for management.
- Assists with the evaluation, recommendation, purchasing, receiving, and distribution of dietary/nutritional supplements, including herbal supplements, for legality, safety, quality, and efficacy consistent with NCAA regulations and athletics department policies and procedures.
- Monitors ongoing use of appropriate supplementation. Stays current with research on the changing sports supplement industry.
- Advises food service managers on menu development and planning.
- Coordinates nutritional needs and requirements when traveling with the team
- Confers with design, building, and equipment personnel to plan for construction and remodeling of food service units and/or dining hall facility as warranted.
- Maintains dietetic registration and continuing education requirements.
- Participates in professional organizations and activities, workshops, seminars, and development programs related to expertise.
- Stays abreast of current food, nutrition, and health issues and research related to sports nutrition.
- Counsels individual student-athletes and teams on the basic practices of positive nutrition and healthful eating habits to maintain and promote their overall wellness and quality of life.
- Counsels student-athletes on optimal nutrition practices for exercise training, competition, recovery from exercise, recovery from illness and injury, weight management, hydration, and supplementation.
- Assesses and analyzes dietary practices, energy balance (intake and expenditure), and current medical status of athletes to develop and implement plans that are in line with meeting their individual health and sports-specific physiological needs. Coordinates the exchange of pertinent information with appropriate health care professionals within federal and state disclosure regulations.
- Assists in coordinating body composition assessments, interpreting the data, and counseling athletes on achieving and maintaining values consistent with enhancing health and performance.
- Advises the appropriate support personnel for menu planning and meal scheduling both on-site and during travel pertinent to pre-competition meals, hydration, catering, airline catering, hotels, competition and supplementation.
- Addresses nutritional challenges to performance with special reference to food allergies, bone mineral disturbances, gastrointestinal disturbances, iron depletion, iron¬ deficiency anemia, vitamin D deficiency, gluten intolerance, lactose intolerance, and diabetes.
- Facilitate the process of cross-disciplinary collaboration by recommending referrals when appropriate to relevant teams within the confines of our existing healthcare network of consulting physicians and complementary medicine practitioners. Coordinates the exchange of pertinent information within federal and state disclosure regulations.
- Educates student-athletes in food selection (grocery store shopping tours, food storage) and food preparation (cooking classes). Develops resources and learning opportunities to support educational efforts such as print media, web based media, and social media.
- Demonstrate a detailed knowledge of and remain current on NCAA, Big 12 Conference, University and departmental rules and regulations.
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of and remain current on rules and regulations of the NCAA and the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) regarding banned drugs and restricted substances, particularly NCAA by-law 16.5.2. (g) & (h).
- Adhere to principles stated in the Athletic Department's Mission Statement and promote loyalty to the mission by all staff and student-athletes under their supervision.
What We Can Offer
- Starting salary range is $90,000 to $110,000.

- A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
- 5+ years of professional, job related experience.
What You Will Need
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, time and priority management skills.
- Ability to work as an encouraging Performance Nutrition Department team member toward agreed-upon goals.
What We Would Like You to Have
- Master's Degree in nutrition, exercise science, sports management, or related field preferred.
- Board certified specialist in sports dietetics.
- Three years experience managing a sports nutrition program in a Division I, NCAA or professional sports program.
- Experience in administering a college sports nutrition program.
