Temple Beth Shalom Director of Education
TEMPLE BETH SHALOM (TBS) in Santa Fe, New Mexico, seeks a Director of Education, starting June/July 2024, who is passionate about life-long Jewish learning. This person will lead the TBS Religious School, support our Preschool, and guide Adult Education programs.

The oldest and largest Jewish community in Santa Fe, now with around 360 households (about 850 individuals), TBS continues to grow. Our Rabbi celebrates 10 years in our community, and our Executive Director has been with us for 7 years. Our staff are a supportive, kind, friendly, and creative team.

EDUCATION IS A CONTINUUM at TBS; all ages and stages contribute to the sustainability of our community and durability of our tradition. As Director of Education, you will help shape our Jewish future.
· Sunday : around 40 students from pre-K to 7th grade, plus a robust madrichim (teen aide)
program. Our Director of Education will hire, supervise, and support teacher and aides, provide curriculum, content, methods, and materials, and serve as a resource person for families.
· Wednesday is an intensive program for 4th through 7th with an optional 3rd grade.
· Our teen program, the , serves 8th-12 graders as both youth group and religious education, also on Wednesday evenings. Director of Education will support our experienced Youth Director and have opportunities to teach in the program. Depending on the needs of the community and your interest, you may have opportunities to travel with teens.
· Serves about 45 children throughout Santa Fe, from 18 months - 5 years old, and is licensed by the State of New Mexico's Early Childhood Education Department. You’ll guide Judaic content and supervise our Preschool director.
· Is a robust program providing an exciting array of programs for our community.
The successful applicant will work with our Rabbi to plan the educational calendar, including special holiday and educational events; hire and assist Religious and Hebrew School teachers; and ensure the smooth running of the B’nei/B’not Mitzvah program. Our Director of Education works collaboratively with, and is supported by, TBS staff,
lay leadership, committees, and volunteers.

THE DETAILS:
This is a full-time position, approximately 40 hours per week, on-campus.
The normal work schedule is Sunday through Thursday, including Wednesday and other evenings, and Jewish holidays.
Salary is $67,000 - $77,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
