Directs the daily activities of a distribution center team including labor scheduling, supervision and proper utilization of space, equipment, and manpower. This position serves as a contact and coordinator between warehouse operations, customer service, and delivery.
Duties And Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulations by analyzing and interpreting reports
- Assist in hiring and retaining staff to maintain appropriate coverage
- Implementing and monitoring Human Resource compliance, asset protection and safety controls, overseeing safety, operational and quality assurance reviews
- Developing and implementing action plans to improve performance, providing direction and guidance on executing Company programs.
- Assess and make recommendations on programs to improve warehouse operations. Develop and direct programs to maintain cost-effective operations and utilization of the facility. Effectively plan utilization of equipment to meet business needs and minimize costs.
- Ensure warehouse housekeeping, safety, security, organization, and sanitation are at an acceptable level on a daily basis.
- Maintain and analyze key warehouse measurements and develop plans for areas in need of improvement.
- Communicate with HomeStore personnel on customer pick-ups, returns, cancellations, deliveries, reschedules and add-ons. Ensure all Showroom delivery/pick-up product is inspected and meets necessary quality standards. Ensure all variations to the quality standards are documented and forwarded to the appropriate personnel for further review.
- Review receiving volume to proactively anticipate inventory levels
- Make employment decisions and/or recommendations on hiring, improvement, transfers, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, pay adjustments, etc.
- Manage employee performance and assist employees in making improvements to their performance through coaching, mentoring and administering performance reviews. Recommend, plan and/or implement employee training and skill development activities.
- Audit, maintain and ensure employee time-keeping and absentee records are accurate.
- Communicate company and departmental concerns and goals to facilitate employee development through weekly team meetings, regular individual employee meetings, coaching, training, and learning opportunities.
- Manage resources to optimize equipment, facilities, employees, methods, and materials.
- Communicate with manufacturers by telephone

Qualification Requirements:
- Knowledge of Distribution practices and processes
- Knowledge of computer applications
- Capable experienced Leader

Education Or Experience:
- High School graduate or equivalent, ideally with business courses
- Minimum of one year experience as supervisor/manager of staff and experience with distribution processes
- Typing, 10 Key, adding machine, copy machine, computer applications, multi-line telephone
Language Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees or organizations.
Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, care circumference and volume. Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram, or schedule format.
