Job Description
Summary
The Director of Data Engineering and Analytics will oversee implementation and day-to-day application support for a new centralized customer data warehouse, master data management (MDM), analytics, and associated integrations, and contribute to the company's overall data and Analytics strategy. This is a strategic role that will help shape the evolution of Aspen Skiing Company's data and Analytics capability, and will help enable the strategic growth of three business units: ASPENX, Hotel, and Ski. The role is also a hands-on position that requires building a team, deploying new capabilities, and leading the software development lifecycle.
The budgeted salary range for this position is $149,717 - $209,604. Actual pay will be dependent on budget and experience, all our salaried roles are eligible for bonus.
Essential Job Functions
  • Help lead the strategy to design, build, and deploy an enterprise data and Analytics strategy and capability that spans ASPENX, Hotel, and Ski business units.
  • Serve as a key member of the enterprise-wide data leadership team that identifies opportunities to use data and Analytics to impact business outcomes.
  • Advocate for data utilization throughout the organization by helping to improve data literacy, data governance, and driving the use of Data for decision making.
  • Build, lead, and mentor a team that develops and deploys a custom centralized customer database, master data management, and enterprise analytics platform.
  • Introduce and promote new and innovative technologies such as AI, machine learning, and others to drive business impact.
  • Act as a leader between Business Partners and IT by planning, conducting, and directing business analysis, implementations, and ongoing support of the customer database, MDM, and enterprise analytics platforms.
  • Promote company engagement and adoption of the customer database and enterprise analytics through relationship building and change management best practices.
  • Oversee the technical integration ecosystem across the customer database and enterprise analytics.
  • Lead the effort to modernize existing data and Analytics technologies in alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Lead teams to generate a vision, establish direction and motivate members, create an atmosphere of trust, leverage diverse views, coach staff, and encourage improvement and innovation.
  • Formulate and implement development, maintenance, and support processes.
  • Analyze and promote solution alternatives that best solve existing business problems.
  • Strong ability to plan work across teams, manage timelines, and processes to achieve continual success.
  • Work with business partners to establish a Business Intelligence and data analysis capability.
  • Hire and motivate a team of employees, contractors, and vendors.
  • Facilitate the creation of a Data Governance structure that spans across business units.
  • Create, socialize, and maintain multi-year roadmaps as needed to evolve the ecosystem.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Degree in Information Technology, computer science, business, or related field required, or equivalent experience.
  • 8 - 10+ years in data technologies, specifically Azure/Microsoft PowerBI experience required
  • 8 - 10+ years as a director in information technology, managing a team, and overseeing applications in the data and Analytics space
  • 8 - 10+ years developing, deploying, integrating, and maintaining an enterprise customer data warehouse system
  • 8 - 10+ years of experience leading a high-performance Data Engineering team.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL and Master Data Management solutions (i.e. Profisee)
  • Experience implementing agile software development lifecycle (i.e. Scrum)
  • Experience with program/project management
  • Experience working with matrixed teams and vendor partners.
  • Experience working in the leisure, travel, tourism, ski resort, or hospitality industries - preferred.

Supervision given and received
Supervision given: Exercises limited supervision over a team of project managers, data engineers, and analysts. Assigns result driven projects, and assists with unusual situations that do not have clear objectives. Instruction, advice and assistance available at request of employee. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, interviewing, hiring, performance evaluation; recognition; disciplinary action; training and development, budgeting, and labor relations.
Supervision received: Works under limited supervision of Chief Information Officer. Receives guidance in terms of broad goals and overall objectives and is responsible for establishing strategical methods to attain them. Can formulate policies but does not necessarily have final authority for approval. Review of work is not detailed and emphasizes accomplishment of broad work objectives, rather than specific assignments.

Ability to stand, type and sit at desk/computer for most of the work shift executing repetitive movements
No adverse or hazardous conditions
Not required, but preferred to be able to occasionally lift, push or pull 25 lbs. individually or with assistance (weight limits can vary according to position, but no more than 50)
