About the open position:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Data Infrastructure to lead the design and management of our Data Infrastructure. This professional will focus on integrating data from third parties, safeguarding PII data, overseeing data pipelines, and ensuring data security, redundancy, and performance. You will coordinate with cross-functional teams to deliver robust and scalable solutions that support our business objectives.
The ideal candidate will bring proven experience as a data architect or experience in a similar role with a focus on data integration, data management, and data security in a service business responsible for hundreds of customer datasets.
This full-time, salaried position is open to candidates within the United States who are eligible to work without current or future employment sponsorship. The salary range is $130,000 to $145,000 annually, depending on skills and expertise.
What you'll do:
  • Data Integration: Collaborate with third-party data providers to integrate external data sources seamlessly into our systems, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
  • PII Data Management: Implement and oversee data governance practices to manage and protect Personally Identifiable Information data in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Data Pipeline Oversight: Lead the design, development, and management of data pipelines for the ingestion and processing of data, ensuring data quality and reliability.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with various teams, including software development, security, and IT operations, to ensure data security, redundancy, and performance meet business requirements.
  • Data Architecture Design: Design and optimize data architectures to support scalability, performance, and data analytics needs.
  • Communication: Drive projects forward, communicate progress, and explain data strategies to business owners from performance, security, and operational perspectives.
  • Automation: Automate the creation of and present data growth and data quality status reports.

What you'll bring to the role:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 5-7 years of ETL experience with large scale datasets.
  • Proven experience as a data architect or in a similar role with a focus on data integration, data management, and data security in a service business responsible for hundreds of customer datasets.
  • Strong knowledge of data integration tools and technologies targeted at client data sets of up to 200MM customer records or more.
  • Familiarity with data protection regulations and best practices for managing PII data.
  • Proficiency in data pipeline design and management that can accommodate a variety of input data formats and sources in a highly scalable manner.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across teams.
  • The ability to translate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

You'll be a top candidate if you:
  • Bring a strong background with data and ETL tools, with some combination of SSIS, ADF, SQL Server, and Snowflake experience.
  • Have experience with PowerBI or other reporting tools.
  • Completed a degree in computer science or data science.
  • Are familiar with Jira.
  • Have experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).
  • Find joy in solving problems and coming up with creative solutions.
  • Can juggle multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Are willing to jump into areas where you may not be an expert.
  • Have exceptional listening skills and know the right questions to ask.
