The Director of Community Organizing and Advocacy is responsible for leading Detroit Hispanic Development's Community Organizing & Advocacy Department, which includes civic engagement and resident organizing around key issues impacting the Detroit and Michigan Latino communities. Responsibilities include direct supervision of department Program Coordinators, team management and coordinating and overseeing the day-to-day operations of related programs. S/he will oversee: the development of key campaigns addressing issues impacting the local Latino community; conduct voter registration, GOTV and voter protection initiatives; provision and scheduling of trainings and presentations around Community Organizing and theory of change; engage community residents in policy campaigns; oversee the collaboration of statewide Latinx-led non-profits; implementation and oversight of subgrants to community partners; grant and report writing to funders and administration; budget management and financial reporting; attend meetings of various state-wide and local collaborations; act as the liaison between DHDC, the community and key stakeholders; and ensure that all program components are implemented effectively and documented appropriately.
