WHEDA is seeking a Director of Community and Economic Development to join our Marketing and Communications as a remote employee.
Position Summary
This position is a “rural/ home office” position, and the work schedule is determined based on the business/division needs. Though regular work is performed remotely, regular travel throughout the state will be expected based on business needs. The position of Director, Community and Economic Development, provides direction and leadership for the overall business, customer relations and community development functions of the Authority. The primary objective of this position is to lead a state‐wide team to establish and maintain strategic relationships throughout the State of Wisconsin to advance the work of the Authority, improving the quality of life for Wisconsinites.

Salary Information
Hiring Range for this position is from $112,934 - $142,361 Annually. Offered Salary will be based on qualifications and internal pay equity. WHEDA provides a competitive salary and WHEDA employees participate in the State of Wisconsin benefit package which includes retirement, health insurance and deferred compensation programs.

Job Details
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Designs, directs and implements the Authority’s overall community relations function and community development activities.
- In partnership with the Executive Office and Director of Marketing & Communications.
- Raises awareness of Authority in the marketplace and ensures consistent corporate image.
- Designs, directs and implements major initiatives, to drive community involvement, public/private partnerships and coordination of other state agencies to address the growing need for affordable housing and Economic Development opportunities within the state.
- Directs and leads the statewide Community and Economic Development line of business which includes the Authority’s Tribal Liaison and the Authority’s Emerging Business/Supplier Diversity staff.
- Ensures the Authority is upholding their commitment to our State’s Tribal Nations per the Tribal Consultation Policy.
- Oversees staff’s outreach, data collection, networking and strategic initiative project management efforts.
- Performs supervisory duties, including hiring, training and coaching, performance evaluations, and corrective action.
- Ensures that employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy and safe working environment.
- Measures the effectiveness of the CED team functions and is an agile leader implementing change as needed.
- Creates and maintains partnership relations with stakeholders that support the Authority’s efforts holistically across business lines; including, but are not limited to realtors, lenders, developers/owners, community development organizations, philanthropy other State HFA’s and WI municipalities.
- Serves as a connector, convener and subject matter expert to our partners, providing creative and innovative responses to stakeholders.
- Participates in the overall management of the Authority.
- Collaborates with cross functional partners, such as Commercial Lending, Legal, Finance, Executive Office, Members Loan Committee (MLC), and the Board of Directors.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Marketing, Advertising, social media or a closely related field AND 6 years of progressively responsible, professional level experience directly related to the area of assignment, including 3 years of management level experience OR a combination of education and experience.
