Summary:
The Director of Business Development coordinates all outgoing promotional activities for CAF America’s core services and products. The position represents the Foundation externally, leading our engagement at conferences and events and speaking on its behalf when necessary. The Director coordinates strategy across CAF America’s national offices in Miami and New York City, manages their respective staff leads, and will be responsible for coordinating the further development of the Business Development Team in future years. As part of the External Affairs Department, the Director helps convert general awareness of CAF America and its mission into tangible donations that drive our mission and impact.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategy for promoting CAF America’s services to our core target audiences (Corporations & Corporate foundations, US Foundations, Individual & Family Donors, and Foreign Charities)
- Support the Marketing and Communications team in developing necessary collateral for conferences and other Business Development activities
- Solicit and secure new business to support CAF America’s growth targets as defined in the annual budget. Consults with potential clients to understand their needs; identify and suggest CAF America’s products, or services, and look for opportunities to develop new product offerings
- Represent CAF America in negotiating and agreeing to contracts for providing services to donor clients and charity partners
- Represent CAF America at designated conferences and events around the US and internationally (up to 20%)
- Support in the development of CAF America’s annual budget for new business income and Business Development expenses
- Remotely manage a team of development professionals across CAF America’s nationwide offices, providing strong leadership and professional mentorship to the entire Business Development team.
- Track and report on the projected performance of the foundation’s prospect pipeline
- Develop and monitor team performance targets and ensure alignment to the strategic goals of the organization
- This position manages a team of 1 direct report and 1 full-time contractor, with potential to grow the team in future years

- Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) from four-year college or university; and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in Business Development, Sales, Customer Service, or other client-facing role in Community Foundations, Financial Services, Legal Services, Fundraising,or a related industry strongly preferred
