OVERVIEW:

The primary function of the Director ofBusiness Development & Strategic Initiatives is the management and oversight of all new business and product development for Glenmede Investment Management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sales Leadership and Planning. Oversee the Institutional and Intermediary Sales teams. Set goals and metrics for the two sales teams and review quarterly for their effectiveness. Develop and cultivate your own relationships in coordination with sales teams with consultants, managed account platforms and subadvisory relationships to complement the existing sales personnel. Plan and execute calling program to develop investment flows from existing platforms. Work with the existing sales team to coordinate sales efforts. Travel extensively (approximately 80% time) visiting consultants, platform representatives and decision-makers.

Strategy. Develop business strategy for achieving sales targets. Participate and assist the President with annual budgets developed from the sales goals. Strategic planning and execution on potential additions to product line-up both organically and inorganically developed. Assist in the development and modification of sales material.

Relationship Management. Retain and grow existing institutional product relationships. Assist and assure that the portfolio teams are appropriately trained for presentations. Travel extensively (approximately 80% time) visiting consultants, platform representatives and decision-makers.

New Business. Serve as “team leader” to assure the smooth transition of new business on the books. Work with other staff including Portfolio Managers to develop sales leads.

Marketing & Brand Awareness. Work with other Glenmede groups to foster a cooperative and complementary sales program across Glenmede. Participate in the development of the marketing plans.

Firm Building. Work with GIM President and leadership team in identifying non-correlated investment teams to acquire or “lift-out” to GIM. Work with GIM Operations team to assure GIM is as efficient as possible in its client operations functions. Perform other duties as required by position.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent required.
  • Minimum ten – fifteen years sales experience in the investment industry.
  • Previous experience managing a sales group.
  • Knowledge of competitive landscape, including competing managers and competing platform sponsors.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CFA or advanced business degree preferred.
  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Established relationships in the consultant, plan sponsor, sub-advisory and platform community.
  • Understanding of Broker Dealer and Registered Investment Advisory channels and distinguishing features.
  • Proven self-starter and good organizational skills.
