Develops and supervises the provision of social, recreational, and other purposeful activities to each resident in the Skilled Nursing Facility and Adult Day Healthcare Program in order to stimulate the resident’s mental and physical capabilities to their fullest extent. Enables residents to foster a sense of usefulness, self-respect and dignity in maintaining quality of life. Works to grow the household staff in activities expertise. The Director of Life Enhancement works cooperatively and respectfully with residents, coworkers, families, visitors and volunteers to create a positive and pleasant environment in the home. This may involve direct problem solving, conflict resolution and ensuring that the psychosocial and activity needs and desires of residents are met.
Responsibilities:
EDUCATION
- Associates Degree or completion of two years of college in health-related field or graduate of Registered or Licensed Practical Nurse curriculum
- Five (5) years experience leading and directing recreational therapy in a long term care facility will be accepted in lieu of degree or license
- EXPERIENCE
- Two years of age-appropriate experience within the last 5 years, one of which was full-time in an activities program in a health care setting
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Ability to promote socialization, recreation and enjoyment consistent with resident’s individual physical, mental, cultural and ethnic needs
- Good supervisory skills
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Good driving and vision skills
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, resident, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel and general public
- Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm
- Communication skills which may be inclusive of approach, tone of voice, speed of communication, respectfulness and non-verbal communication
CREDENTIALS
- Eden Certified status preferred
ENVIRONMENT
- Normal heat, light space, and safe working environment; typical of most office jobs
- Frequent prolonged walking, sitting, standing, and/or bending. Ability to push wheelchair for extended periods of time
- Works in office setting, throughout facility and various areas during outings
- May be subject to family members, visitors, residents and staff who may be distressed
- Rotating assignment of weekends, holidays, and evenings, may be subject to call back to facility as needed
- May be subject to blood borne pathogens and occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials
- Occasional exposure to one or more mildly unpleasant physical conditions

Pay: $31,571.28 - $160,613.04 per year
