Job Overview
The Director of Accounting is responsible for general ledger management, account reconciliation, accounts payable processing, cash disbursements, expense accruals, monthly accounting cycle closing and various other tasks as assigned.

- General Ledger
- Identify and implement process improvements in the monthly close to increase accuracy and decrease the number of days required to close
- Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department in the areas of general ledger, accounts payable, and operational expenses
- Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles
- Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions by providing recommendations to management
- Supervise staff accountants in daily activities
- Ensure that all assigned GL balance sheet accounts are reconciled to subsidiary records on a monthly basis
- Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy
- Accomplish accounting objectives by enforcing policies and procedures
- Act as the accounting liaison for department heads to address questions/concerns to ensure business needs are being met
- Manage AP staff, including training, evaluating and professional development
- Create an efficient method for distributing AP workload including the shared services for international subsidiaries
- Develop, implement and maintain systems, procedures and policies to ensure adherence to company policy and guidelines
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
- Accomplish accounting and organization mission by completing assigned projects as needed
Skills/ Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree plus in Accounting preferred; or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 8 years proven work experience as an Accounting Manager or higher position
- CPA with Big 4 public accounting experience preferred
- Successfully manage multiple priorities with quick turnaround
- Strong organization skills
- Must be proactive and self-directed
- Ability to direct and supervise staff
- Experience with ERP computer software a plus
- Proven knowledge of Accounting principles, practices and standards
- Working knowledge of MS Office applications, especially Excel, Word and Outlook
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Identify and implement process improvements that ensure mitigation of risk and increase the efficiency of the accounting team
- Document and follow relevant internal controls over financial reporting
- Directly assist subsidiaries and other departments to document and adhere to relevant internal controls over financial reporting for their respective functions
