The Medical Evidence Generation (MEG) Clinical Research Collaborations team actively bridges Bristol Myers Squibb to the best external science through collaborations with academic institutions and networks of practicing clinicians.
BMS has recently launched ACTION (Autoimmunity Cell Therapy Network) to establish industry leadership in leveraging cell therapies to address unmet needs in autoimmune disease. The Director, MEG ACTION Lead, will co-lead cross-functional efforts focused on building an optimal engine for identifying, ideating, and actively sourcing research concepts that will address critical evidence gaps for BMS's cell therapy assets in this exciting new area of medicine. The MEG ACTION Lead will also play a leading role in developing and implementing a strategy to educate healthcare practitioners on the use of CAR-T cells in treating autoimmune diseases.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Clinical Research Collaborations, the MEG ACTION Lead will be expected to:

  • Serve as the MEG point of contact and cross-matrix team co-leader accountable for defining and executing an external engagement plan aimed at ensuring BMS has access to the most up-to-date information on critical cell therapy and autoimmune disease research-related issues
  • With input from key internal therapeutic area experts, play a critical role in the design, recruitment, and management of external networks of thought leaders who will advise BMS on research and educational opportunities that will position the company as a leader in this emerging area of medicine
  • Design and drive strategies to accelerate the development of BMS's cell therapy pipeline leveraging external research platforms, technologies, and insights
  • Align with and advise senior functional and therapeutic area leaders on new external opportunities that will inform strategy and influence decisions in the creation of integrated evidence generation plans
  • Personally lead a limited number of high-visibility projects leveraging relevant disease subject matter expertise
  • Contribute to the evolution of MEG and the Cell Therapy therapeutic area strategy and value proposition


Qualifications & Experience

  • Advanced scientific degree (MD, MD/PhD, PhD, PharmD, or the equivalent) required with extensive, relevant scientific and/or clinical experience and subject matter expertise in immunology and/or cell therapy
  • Minimum 8 years of pharmaceutical industry or other relevant experience is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and sustain high-performing internal and external matrix networks
  • Adeptness at building credibility with external investigators and collaborative partners competently balancing business and scientific acumen complemented by strong leadership behaviors, authenticity, agility, and an enterprise mindset
  • Understanding of global healthcare systems and academic settings with a demonstrated ability to lead in ambiguous and changing healthcare/business environments
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to influence decision-making at all levels of the organization
  • Expected travel ~20%-30% globally.

On-site Protocol
BMS has a diverse occupancy structure that determines where an employee is required to conduct their work.
