This position is responsible for both Alera Group’s server and networking teams. All infrastructure-related projects, planning and support will run through this department. This department oversees the infrastructure of both the corporate environment as well as most of our acquired firms. This role handles project management, communications, project roadmaps, scheduling, SOPs, as well as the daily workload of the team and removing obstacles or impediments facing them.
- Lead a data-driven team to provide cloud and on-premises systems and network infrastructure to over 4000 employees in a distributed, multi business unit model.
- Manage, coach, and develop a high performing team.
- Oversee multiple, complex, enterprise-grade systems & network projects, routinely delivering on-time and on-budget.
- Interface with vendors and partners to evaluate and implement infrastructure solutions.
- Act as Subject Matter Expert on ITIL processes including Asset, Incident, Change, Knowledge, and Problem Management.
- Work cross-functionally with other IT teams to deliver Enterprise-grade projects.
- Assist in onboarding newly acquired firms into Alera’s standard support model.
- Work with IT and business leadership to continuously improve the infrastructure function.
- Identify opportunities for technology to solve business problems, improve processes, or increase the security posture of Alera Group’s IT Infrastructure.
- Collaborate with IT leadership on the strategic infrastructure roadmap by evaluating current state, identifying capability gaps, and designing short and long-term solutions.
- Associate’s degree or higher, preferably in an IT, CS, or MIS field. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in IT Operations & Engineering roles.
- 7+ years of experience managing systems & network teams in an enterprise environment.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft, Cisco, HPE Aruba, PURE, and other best-in-breed infrastructure vendor systems.
- Experience with Azure and AWS public clouds, including leading at least one infrastructure transformation initiative.
- Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
- Experience with Azure AVD, VMWare Horizon, or other VDI platforms.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
- Demonstrated problem solving and customer service skills.
- Experience in the Insurance Industry and/or with mergers & acquisitions preferred.
