REQUIREMENT
ARCTOS is seeking an experienced leader for our Industrial Innovation Laboratory (IIL) team. As an integral component of our Industrial Base Resiliency business area, the IIL performs externally funded applied R&D projects to improve the production, maintenance, and repair of aerospace and defense systems. Working inside our 20,000-SF research and manufacturing facility in Beavercreek, OH, the IIL team is comprised of a multidisciplinary group of hardware and software engineers working in the following areas:
- Additive manufacturing
- Material repair techniques
- Robotics and automation
- Non-destructive inspection
- Hardware reverse engineering
- Augmented and virtual reality
- Digital thread / digital twin
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide leadership in developing a business strategy for the Industrial Innovation Laboratory, in collaboration with the ARCTOS executive team and key members of the Industrial Base Resiliency team.
- Actively engage potential customers to understand needs and how ARCTOS may provide solutions.
- Provide oversight and support to program managers (PMs) and principal investigators (PIs) on development of white papers and technical proposals to secure contract funding.
- Work with PMs/PIs to ensure funded projects meet technical, schedule, and cost objectives.
- Supervise hardware/software team leads and provide mentorship across the engineering team.
- Review/modify/establish internal plans and processes for management of facilities and equipment.
- Lead by example to embody/enforce a strong safety and security culture across the team.
- Actively participate in strategic planning, budget planning, portfolio reviews, and related activities.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Business operations leader able to translate top-level goals into group-level plans and processes.
- Hands-on engineering professional ready to mentor junior engineers and build/lead a cohesive team.
- Prior experience performing sponsored research projects for Air Force and other DoD customers.
- Prior experience in plant/equipment oversight in a manufacturing and/or research setting.
- Prior experience in group-level profit/loss accountability and operations budget oversight.
- Prior experience in additive manufacturing and one or more other technology areas listed above.
EDUCATIONAL, CLEARANCE AND CERTIFICATION
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in an engineering leadership capacity.
- Bachelor’s degree (required) and/or advanced degree (highly desired) in a relevant technical field.
- U.S. citizen and must possess or be able to obtain a Secret security clearance (required).
PHYSICAL/WORKING ENVIRONMENT
- Requires visual, hearing, and mobility capabilities to work in an active research and manufacturing environment, with ability to lift up to 35 pounds and operate manufacturing machinery.
TRAVEL
- Nominally 5-10% travel anticipated in support of project activities and trade shows/conferences. and will be performed under the guidelines of Federal Travel Regulations and/or Joint Travel Regulations.
