SUMMARY:
To lead and support the organization through the development and administration of policies and programs talent acquisition, union/employee relations, engagement training and development, performance Management, total rewards, payroll/HR system and community relations as a member of Perlick Leadership (PLT) team. Partner closely with other Perlick Leadership team members on strategy development and execution. Acts as key advisor on all Human Resources related matters to President and CEO.
Manages and directs three team members directly and one indirectly.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES & REPONSIBILITIES:This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.
Leadership
- In partnership with the PLT, develop and execute strategic plans.
- Support Board updates and conversations. Attend Board meetings as requested.
- Attend PLT meetings to ensure HR updates and support is provided. Meet with peers after to ensure key actions are delivered.
Talent Acquisition and Onboarding
- In coordination with HR Generalists, recruit, interview, and screen candidates and refer those qualified applicants to the respective departments.
- Lead onboarding sections designated for HR Director. Along with HR Generalist, modify and revise onboarding framework as needed.
- Conduct training regarding interviewing for managers and create tools to support efficient recruitment
- Set and track key hiring metrics.
Employee and Union Relations
- With support from HR Generalist, lead all employee relations efforts to include union relations, employee relations, investigations, coaching as well as programs and policies tied to ensuring OnePerlick.
- Participate as a Leader in contract negotiations.
- Developing plans and procedures to be used in carrying out Company policies. Recommend the development of new or revised Company Policies, Rules and Practices.
- Assist the Area Manager and EHS Specialist with Plant Safety responsibilities which includes Safety Program Training; Safety Policy and Safety Rule development.
- Council and assist Management and Supervision on contract administration, disciplinary actions, grievances and arbitration.
- Coordinate the planning, development and administration of the Company Industrial Relations programs with respect to Bargaining Unit employees.
- Responsible for oversight of the employee Attendance and Perfect Attendance program and administer appropriate disciplinary action when necessary.
- Lead the investigation into any charges of discrimination, harassment or other issues in violation of Company Policy.
Performance Management, Training and Development
- Recommend and implement programs for the development and training of employees throughout the organization.
- Lead, develop, oversee and manage the Company’s Performance Development Program and Performance Review system for shop and office employees.
- Run talent check- in processes to include conversations about readiness, high potential, development and other defined criteria.
Engagement
- Define and track key metrics of engagement to include turnover, engagement survey and other retention efforts.
- Define and drive engagement survey strategy. Report on findings and drive engagement action plans that follow.
- Drive OnePerlick action plan to drive actions around engagement, inclusion and belonging.
Total Rewards, HR systems and Payroll
- Drive compensation strategy to include recommendations on merit increases, shop union negotiations, bonus programs, other incentive programs and award programs. Identify and maintain vendor partnerships where required.
- In coordination with Total Rewards Manager, lead all benefits strategies, including renewals, vendor relationship, cost management and invoicing (includes medical, dental, vision, 401k, life insurance, onsite clinic and wellness).
- In coordination with Total Rewards Manager, ensure payroll is done correctly and reconciliation with Finance is completed timely.
- In coordination with Total Rewards Managers, deliver HRIS roadmap, ensure system modules and maintained and conduct training/provide guides on key features on a regular basis.
- In coordination with President and CEO, support Compensation Committee action, tasks and follow up.
Other Duties
- In partnership with the Marketing team, develop procedures to promote effective communications throughout the organization to include key meetings such as townhall, manager meetings and other required meetings.
- Ensure Compliance with State and Federal Wage and Hour Law, Employment Discrimination, and other regulatory and legislative matters. Advise Management on the necessary steps to comply and reduce risk of litigation.
- employee education programs, give advice, council and orientate employees interested in continuing their education.
- Drive the planning and organization of social and recreational activities including charitable contribution programs, volunteer opportunities and other social activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to be successful in this role.
- BA degree in Human Resources Management required.
- 5-10 years of Leadership experience in Human Resources with 5 years of leading the HR function.
- Union Relations experience required and Contract Negotiations Skills highly desired.
- Proficient with MS Office: Word, Excel, Power Point.
- Ability to communicate professionally with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Solid decision-making skills.
