Today, We Are Looking For
The Director, Houston Energy Leadership Cohort is responsible for developing and leading the Partnership’s Houston Energy Leadership Cohort as part of the Greater Houston Leadership Institute. This twice-yearly program offers participants professional development, B2B networking, and energy transition knowledge and awareness. The Director is primarily accountable for driving the overall execution of the Energy Leadership Cohort, identifying, and securing prospective members, creating content, and delivering quality programming that leads to the professional development of the leaders in the energy transition. The Director works closely and collaboratively with the Houston Energy Transition Team (HETI), Member Engagement Team, and Marketing and Communications Team at the Greater Houston Partnership to ensure the successful execution of the program in alignment with the Partnership’s energy transition strategy.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
The Member Engagement Division is responsible for the attraction, retention and engagement of members. To achieve this, the Member Engagement Division works to secure adequate funding for the organization through membership, events, programs, and special initiative fundraising.
The following responsibilities are essential to job performance:
  • Execute all aspects of the Houston Energy Leadership Cohort, including but not limited to working in collaboration with the above departments to recruit cohort members; setting cohorts of program participants up for success and delivering engaging content; ensuring program participants have access to professional development; offering B2B networking opportunities and growing their awareness of energy transition in greater Houston.
  • Secure expert energy transition speakers for keynote presentations and develop and facilitate interactive learning sessions with program participants.
  • Work collaboratively with the HETI team and other related roles at the Partnership to ensure that the program delivers content and outcomes aligned with the Partnership’s energy transition strategy.
  • Serve as internal liaison for interdepartmental collaboration, as related to energy transition.
  • Manage program budget and meet revenue goals for each cohort class, working closely with Sponsorship and Member Engagement teams.
  • Cultivate relationships with program alumni to ensure continued engagement and grow pipeline of new cohort participants.
  • Act as a facilitator, as needed, to ensure engaging and effective program content.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge and interest in energy transition – the dual challenge to meet growing global energy demand while simultaneously reducing emissions. Eager to position Houston for an energy-abundant, low-carbon future.
  • Strong proficiency in strategy and program development.
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills; effective and engaging storyteller.
  • Project Management skills – handles complexity and prioritizes competing demands effectively.
  • Data Analytics skills – strong critical thinking skills and ability to interpret and implement data.
  • Relationship builder who initiates and develops solid working relationships, both internally, and with potential and existing program participants.
  • Consultative – bringing the right people into the decision-making process.
  • Proficiency in these business, project, and event management systems: Office 365 and all Microsoft products, Windows, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook; and Basecamp, Salesforce and CVENT.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Communication, or a related field. Strong interest in the energy transition – the dual challenge to meet growing global energy demand while simultaneously reducing emissions.
Required Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in program development or events management or related field.
Physical Requirements
  • Good vision and hearing acuity (with adaptive aids if necessary).
  • Manual dexterity and skillful use of computer keyboard.
  • Physical exertion includes bending, pushing, standing, and walking. Must be able to move or lift approximately 25 pounds on occasion.
Mental and Aptitude Requirements
  • Job requires the ability to hear, see, and talk; analytical, conceptual, problem-solving, planning and decision-making skills.
