Job description

The Director of Technical Services is responsible for the planning, organizing, implementing, and directing of the Company’s technical support functions, maintenance programs and Rebuild Center, ensuring the best practices, policies and procedures are followed. The Director of Technical Services must be well-versed in all application, maintenance processes and health and safety regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with ethics, honesty, values, and integrity. Provides a position of professionalism to others.
  • Assists in the planning and implementation of the departmental budget.
  • Monitors maintenance performance metrics, KPIs, and exercises oversight of maintenance programs.
  • Performs site visits to ensure a collective alignment and focus on priorities across all branches.
  • Works alongside other managers to develop overall business strategies and advises on technical progression and performance.
  • Supervises and maintains acceptable cost levels with the planning and establishment of effective controls on maintenance, repair, and other expenses.
  • Oversees implementing technical and engineering strategies to ensure that the business runs smoothly, and that overall targets and standards are met.
  • Drives awareness of the most up-to-date maintenance & technical resources, policies, procedures, best practices, goals, and objectives.
  • Advises branch locations on equipment trends and makes recommendations to improve/extend the lifecycle of the fleet, workflow, and efficiency.
  • Monitors and updates status equipment in eMaint and performs cost vs. benefit analysis,
  • Monitors and updates (Sublet Repair) status equipment in eMaint; performs cost vs. benefit analysis and oversees the next steps, as needed.
  • Serves as the technical point of contact for the Power & Rental business.
  • Works alongside other managers to develop overall business strategies and advises on technical progression and performance.
  • Ensures repair operations are compliant and in accordance with the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), DOT, SOP and Company safety policies and procedures.
  • Monitors the progress of projects and performance of employees to ensure that high technical standards are being met, work is completed efficiently, and hard work is rewarded.
  • Establishes administrative and supervisory skills of subordinates through coaching and having an interest in their careers.
  • Mentors, coaches, and trains CMMS polices, processes and procedural controls companywide.
  • Fosters a positive working relationship with co-workers, customers, clients, and management.
  • Completes all safety and equipment-related training required monthly.
  • Any other duty, responsibility or task as assigned by the supervisor.

Experience

Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor’s degree in applied science / mechanical engineering or related field preferred; or Must have combined education and experience to equal eight (8) years with at least four (4) of those years in industrial engine/rental equipment operations and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of mobile power generation is required.
  • Requires general knowledge of ASME, API, NEC, OSHA terms and guidelines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Must have excellent communication, organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers, customers, clients and management.
  • Must be comfortable in an environment that is occasionally high stress.
  • Must be flexible for travel, even on short notice.
  • Demonstrates a willingness to take on new tasks and improve current procedures.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills – manages multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapts to changing situations.
Preferred
  • Knowledge and experience with natural gas, including wellhead (field) gas as a fuel source preferred.

Education

Preferred
  • Bachelors or better in Mechanical Engineering or related field
