Job Type: Non-Clinical Travel: Moderate (local); Overnight Minimal

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday As Needed Positions Supervised: None

POSITION SUMMARY


The Director ofLife Safety and Facilities Management administers and directs preventive and corrective maintenance programs to maintain buildings, grounds, and equipment. The Director coordinates the organizational safety program for assigned facilities by developing and administering safety programs to reduce injuries to patients, visitors, and employees. The Director establishes, plans, organizes, and directs the overall physical facility operations at multiple locations. Oversees all aspects of the Environment of Care program to ensure that all safety, Life Safety, and environment of care measures are adhered to at all company facilities. Maintains a working knowledge and serves as a resource to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including CIHQ, DNV, OSHA, CAP, COLA, NFPA, EPA, and other regulatory agencies.

Essential Functions Statement(s) Ability/Performance/Knowledge Expectations

  • Oversees compliance with CIHQ, DNV, NFPA, OSHA, AHCA, and all other regulatory agency requirements at assigned sites. Ensures testing and inspections for all agencies are accomplished appropriately and participates in regulatory surveys and
  • Manages the preventative maintenance and repair HVAC, plumbing, electrical,
  • Develops and maintains records of equipment and schedules periodic
  • Schedules, coordinates, and oversees corrective work orders and preventative maintenance programs and ensures they are completed and documented within appropriate
  • Assist with chairing the Emergency Preparedness and Safety
  • Conduct investigation on employee injury reports and incidents involving
  • Coordinates and participates in Environment of Care (EOC) quality Assist in leading and participating in EOC rounding. Conduct safety assessments at facilities when necessary.
  • Help direct/critique emergency preparedness drills/events, including disaster response, power/other utility loss, flood, and workplace
  • Assist with preparing and updating the fire safety, hazard communication, and emergency preparedness training program.
  • Responsible for planning, developing, and implementing plans, policies, and procedures relative to the environment of care (EOC).
  • Establishes program goals and objectives in consultation with facility administration and performs program evaluations in accordance with standards and
  • Keeps informed regarding regulatory changes related to hospital
  • Researches and estimates costs of facilities projects, including costs for labor, equipment, and materials.
  • Performs or facilitates inspections of all parts of the organization's grounds and Facilities; approves renovations, maintenance, and installations when
  • Works with leadership to determine needs for major renovations, modifications, or new construction.
  • Supervise work of contractors in connection with the maintenance and improvement of buildings and building facilities.
  • Conduct periodic inspections of buildings to evaluate the complexity of any needed repairs to

determine the best solution, projects job cost, and oversees the implementation of approved procedures to ensure the ongoing efficient operation of assigned buildings.

  • Maintain ongoing relationships with all department units to keep abreast of their service needs and to be able to anticipate problems before they become crisis
  • Supervise and train staff in the approved practices and procedures for proper facility maintenance and the implementation and observance of all approved safety procedures to ensure compliance with existing safety
  • Develop Emergency Management back-up plans for common problems (such as power shortage) for contractors' implementation to ensure uninterrupted
  • Participate in announced and unannounced facility and Life Safety surveys conducted by accrediting and inspection agencies such as DNV, CMS/IDPH, and
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Physical Demands - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for periods ranging from 6 to 12 hours at a time. Use hands and fingers, handle, feel, reach with hands and arms, sit, climb, or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit in short or extended intervals as needed. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. This job's specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education:

Bachelor's degree in management, business, engineering, healthcare, or a related field preferred.

Experience:

Minimum of five years' experience in environmental health and safety, preferably in a hospital.

Computer Skills:

Familiarity with MS Office suite, Outlook and Microsoft Excel.

Certifications & Licenses:

Certification: Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager (CHFM) or Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP), HAZMAT/HAWZWOPER, NEHA, HEM preferred.
