Job Summary
The Director, GS Girl Program plays a crucial role in championing the Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) of Discovering, Connecting and Taking Action;for girls from Daisies (Kindergarten) to Ambassadors (high school graduates) in our council. They will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, supportand evaluation of high-quality programs within the pillars of the Girl Scout Focus (STEAM, Civic Engage ment, Outdoors, Entrepreneurship) that meet the needs and interests of girls at all levels. Will lead theGirl ScoutGirl Program staff team and work closely with volunteers, and community partners to ensure that every girl has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive through Girl Scouts.Employee must reside within the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan area and attend regular in person meetings.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee the development and implementation of high-quality Girl Scout program experiences across all levels (Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette, Senior, Ambassador) in the areas of STEM, entrepreneurship, civic engagement, arts and healthy living.
- Guiding girls through exciting journeys that culminate in earning badges, exploring their interests, and tackling real-world challenges.
- Championing the awareness and pursuit of the highest awards: Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards, empowering girls to make a lasting impact on their communities.
- Building strong partnerships with volunteers, community organizations, and families to ensure inclusivity and accessibility.
- Collaborates with VP of GSProgram & Property and Fund Development team to identify and secure funding opportunities to support program development and expansion.
- Leading and mentoring a dedicated team of program specialists and volunteers.
- Continuously evaluating and improving program offerings based on data and feedback.
- Acts as subject matter expert for all Girl Scout program levels, badges, and journeys.
- Collaborates with other Mission Delivery Directors to promote utilization of bold programs to support the recruitment and retention of girl and adult members.
- Cross-collaboration with Director, GS Outdoor/Adventure Program to strategize creative and unique Girl Scout experiences and learning opportunities for both volunteer and girl members.
- Supervises, manages, and coaches Girl Program team in accordance with council policies and applicable laws including interviewing, hiring, and training of staff; performance management; assigning and directing work based on need; addressing any complaints and resolving problems.
- Ability to directly lead program and strategy initiatives as directed or needed; and support other members of the GS Program team to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
- Develops and manages program budgets and resources effectively including purchasing equipment, supplies, hiring of external services of specialists or consultants, and the hiring of contractors or vendors, establishing external relationships is community organizations/companies to accomplish overall goals and directives of the Girl Program.
- Maintains and utilizes program information; processes large volume of paperwork, composes letters, reports, memos, cost estimates and feasibility studies; utilizes and maintains filing system(s).
- May perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
- Latest trends in youth development and program best practices
- Child development and the unique needs of each Girl Scout age level (Daisy, Brownie, Junior, Cadette, Senior, Ambassador).
- Deep understanding of Girl Scout culture, Girl Scout Leadership Experience, programming, and badges.
Skill in:
- Researching, compiling, and summarizing a variety of informational and statistical data and materials.
- Negotiating purchases and contracts.
- Setting and achieving departmental and organizational goals.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field; and,
- Five to seven years of progressively responsible experience preferably in a non-profit environment; or any combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
- Proven track record of success in developing and implementing engaging and effective programs.
- Valid Driver License with an acceptable driving record.
